I’m an Omega account player and I don’t mind paying the 15 bucks to support the game.
But if I ever have to buy plex for ships, this game is no longer sustainable and I would cancel my sub.
What is this… third or forth time we have a thread about these packs? How are people surprised at this point?
You guys are doing nothing to try and change the situation (writing on the forum is not doing anything), yet every time you expect CCP changing their monetization strategy because of the goodness in their heart? For a game about a dystopian capitalist future, you guys sure suck at it.
CCP Does not live in EVE Online. They live in Iceland on Planet Earth with other human beings.
Human beings often follow and enjoy certain ethics. Making your customerbase essentially, from a certain place of view addicts is very shady ethically speaking. It is up to us to call CCP and to an extent Pearl Abyss out on acts which are ethically very dubious.
I’m not trying to call anyone names but a good anagoly would be drugs. CCP Is essentially training the players, their customers into getting instant gratification right now. First you normalize the Skill Points, then you sell them. Cut out the middle man of the players by selling Skill Points and voila. You’ve created a problem and now are selling a solution.
It seems to be a long-term strategy. But I think it’s gonna blow up in their face in the long run.
Indeed!!
Problem is, I don’t think they have any feet left at this point.
Yeah, they’ve been doing this for a very long time. Way before PA was even a thing.
This was exactly my point. People are, for some odd reason, surprised every time CCP are twisting the milk dial a notch. So for a game that revolves around a capitalist future, people seems to have zero idea of how capitalism actually functions.
Hint: Shoving money into a company and thinking they will change their path is not the way.
I see EVE Echoes wasn’t enough for CCP. Now they are shamelessly monetizing newbies, trying to attract the credit card wallet warrior whales to become the future of Tranquility / desktop PC EVE, too.
This is absolutely disgusting. I cannot in good conscience continue giving CCP Games any money. -2 unsubbed accounts. No, you can’t have my stuff, that’d just encourage you to stay.
I’m now remembering also how Rockstar Games continuously nerfed Grand Theft Auto Online’s ingame wealth generators to incentivize Shark Cards (PLEX).
My only regret with EVE is that I didn’t play it at launch. It would’ve been nice to have had a longer time with this game before it sold out to F2P. I’ll get my EVE fix vicariously from Andrew Groen’s Empires of EVE Volumes I and II – look back on the glory days, have nostalgia for times I never played. It was fun while it lasted.
Exactly this. Have already payed for 13 years of eve with sub’s and ships keep increasing in price and isk gains stay relatively the same its slowly getting insane the amount of grind needed to play. (to the point I have not played properly for over a year now)
Back in the day a T1 battle ship fully fit was 80mil for like an armagedon back then making 100mil/hour isk was about avg, now t1 fully fit Battle ships cost 450mil and 150mil/hour is about avg (for the avg player), the amount of grind has just increased like crazy over the years. This is not to mention the now 2b to 2.5b it costs to manufacture a nightmare with gas and stuff.
#Greed_Is_Good
Are you kidding or serious? It’s hard to know, sarcasm doesn’t translate well in writing.
Greed is good was something that came out of an internal CCP memo that caused an absolute shitstorm with the player base at the time. I was merely referencing that. I think it was tied up with monocle gate with WIS was introduced.
Oh yes! I can’t believe I forgot about that!
Actually no, I can believe I forgot about that, what with everything that happened to me, it’s a wonder I remember my own name.
Cherry on top! Let me also pay plex for market deliveries to arbitrary locations plox
I’m just glad I stopped giving them money years ago. The direction this takes is seriously disturbing.
Scummy microtransaction ads targeted at newbies is actually terrible for player retention. I’ve never been on board the “microtransactions will destroy the game” train because most micro whales are morons who’ll kit out a marauder and end up in an ALOD article someday, and selling them skillpoints won’t change this. Advertising that’s so offensive it’ll convince real players to quit, though? That’s a huge deal.
This is not the issue i am loosing my ■■■■ over.
CCP forgetting ships is not the issue i am loosing my ■■■■ over.
CCP deleting ingame content is not the issue i am loosing my ■■■■ over.
Scarcity and ruining a reason to play between fleets is not the issue i am loosing my ■■■■ over.
BUT ALL OF IT ■■■■■■■ COMBINED AND CCP NOT GIVING A SINGLE ■■■■ THAT GETS ME LOOSING MY ■■■■.
I DONT CARE WHO IS IN CHARGE OR WHAT UR STRATEGY IS
BUT UNTIL U FIX THIS ■■■■ MY SUBS WILL BE DROPPING AND ONCE THE WAR IS OVER ALL MY SUBS WILL
CCP, rándýr peningastefna þín er ógeðsleg. Vinsamlegast hættu að reyna að soga peninga út úr nýliðum. Vinsamlegast hættu að byggja leikinn til að laða að auðmenn sem skipta um skip með kreditkortum. Leyfðu persónum leikmannanna að vera með húfur og mála geimskip sín með Alliance fánum sínum og litum.
CCP, your predatory monetary policy is disgusting. Please stop trying to suck money out of newcomers. Please stop building the game to attract rich people who replace ships with credit cards. Let the players’ characters wear hats and paint their spaceships with their Alliance flags and colors.
As an avid Steam user I’ve spread the word to the Steam discussion forum as well about this outrageous subject. Because the more platforms they get called out on it and more people are aware of it the better.
