Legal loopholes of one country may not be the same as in another, or those of the same country in the future.
I don’t know why CCP wants to touch loot boxes.

I wonder, if this sort of thing gets enforced, what would happen to the loot boxes they already sold – are they left in the game as is? Deleted and refunded? What would be the consequence in that regard usually?
The only SKINs that are valuable in those loot boxes are not, in fact, bound to character, but they drop to hangar and can be traded on the market and on contracts. It’s just some cheap useless SKINs that appear to be inject-only.

but it complies with the legal loopholes of norway or wherever this game is based and usa….thats all that matters, all the other countries are far away and they dont matter, unless they decide to ban eve online of course in which case ccp might care.
besides most countries dont give a cap anyway…..they got bigger fish to fry and more problems then to care if hundreds of games out there has lootboxes or not.
except maybe for the eu.
EU customers are the majority of EVE’s player base though. The game should follow EU laws for it’s longevity, I just don’t see this as a violation.

except they have to abide by a countries rules to keep the game in that country. EU’s recent laws changing how prices are displayed caught up to EVE

I played Neverwinter D&D years ago. They dropped free loot boxes and sold the keys to open them. This was their solution to circumvent the laws. The loot box in that offer is for buying another item for $10. So they are doing the same thing, not directly selling the loot box.
One of the many reasons I stopped playing Neverwinter Online, was the massive amounts of loot boxes and coupons that drop by killing monsters. To me these were junk drops. I would have to toss them or my inventory would get full. I imagine the game hasn’t changed much since I left, but I do miss the game it was prior to the changes made after 2018.

I bought PLEX yesterday and got a Nestor skin which I then sold in Jita. So some skins at least can be sold.

There’s always one sale or another. Buy PLEX during the PLEX sale and you lose out on the MCT sale for buying omega time directly next week etc.
Just think of the sale price as the real price and everything else as gouging impatient people.

If this is gambling then there will be ALOT of companies who will face fines for “gambling”. As others have said giving a ‘freebie’ without increasing the price when you buy a regularly priced item is NOT gambling, that’s regardless of wheater the ‘freebie’ is a random gift or a fixed item.
To clarify digital gamekey sellers like Fanatic have been doing this for ages by offering a random free gamekey when you buy games for a certain amount at their store. I hate gambling and lootboxes but this is NOT a lootbox in my opinion.
It is for those who care about those YC121 SKINs.
