the tweak i have been pushing for months now is : locator agents cease to function on offline players.
and this
I looked up locator agents and I understand that you do have a simple way to locate people without having to find them in game. Omar detailed it too. But your suggestion makes sense in terms of locator agents, and I sort of get that you don’t want to waste time on offline pilots, but don’t you have to work out their normal login behavior before war decking them, or is that not normal behavior,
I also did some research on API’s and this makes total sense, this made it stupidly easy. Now I begin to see why hisec is such a wasteland, all the hunters were running around with instant catch intel against people who had no idea, did anyone at CCP realize that hisec would end up with no prey left.
Well looks like I am staying in an NPC corp, but I have to ask is this game worth playing if it is handed to people on a plate like this. No wonder @Dom_Arkaral runs around thinking he is elite when he appears barely able to rub two brain cells together.
I am seriously reconsidering spending any further time with Eve after realizing this, and people were telling me that this game was hard.
Not everyone was clueless lol
Anyone that had nullsec toons knew what we had since they were also using it in other situations
Oh look, he’s risk-averse after all lmao
So much for that
Cute ad-hominem fam
Also cute you knew nothing about wars in the past yet still talking like you knew everything about us XD
I don’t want to make it easy for people, if it is that lopsided then just stay out of it, makes sense to me.
So in affect CCP did ruin hisec PVP by making it too damn easy for war deckers and spoiling them with easy locate free intel. This is really obvious to me now.
Your posting is pretty bad, pity there is no block function on these forums, because you would be blocked.
But if we do that we’re being risk-averse
Got it
Pot meet kettle

That sounds like the ganking is easy argument.
Then people try it and fail to reproduce what was so easy to do
Typical
“people who had no idea” they were in a war…
Seems unlikely
You seem like you’re trying to genuinely grasp the situation here, so I wont be crass in my response.
Locates cost 250k per try with a 5 minute delay on the response, with a 30 minute cooldown. If you have ten people with a single alt each locating for just an hour you’re looking at 10 million spent right there. It is by no means ‘free’ intel, considering that the starting wardec cost is 50 million. Now, you have to assume that any entity that is serious about prosecuting a war isn’t just gonna do this for an hour or so… they’re gonna keep at it until they find a viable target.
That is the ISK sink that was destroyed by this change, it also is why people simpy sit in pipes and hubs now and shoot whatever they can that comes through.
Thank you for being reasonable, and for explaining it to me.
What I understand from this is that CCP made a system that flagged up when people go online, that an API call could be made on it to feed into tools that would give even more information, such as locator agent intel and hand it on a plate to them. You did not have to spend any time learning about your prey, you did not have to watch them before hand, you did not have to follow them.
You just applied a war dec and then the system tools in the game gave you instant gratification. I am sorry, but seriously it is not a surprise they took that away from you. I can understand why you are upset, but you should never have been given that level of intel in the first place.
Sorry, but making it that easy destroyed your prey, it looks like the game balance was really out of kilter and yet you tell me that people were no longer hunting and were mainly doing pipe camping and stuff like that before this system was removed. That clearly tells me that your prey were drying up.
Thanks for being so patient, I know this is not what you were trying to say, but it is what I can decipher from it. I am going to have a chat about this with a couple of in game contacts, but it does look to me like CCP are totally dumb.
Thanks for spending the time, this has been an eye opener to say the least.
It’s almost as if CCP can’t be bothered to undo this “side effect”.
Sounds to me like you’re just a shill, pretending to have just figured this out.
There’s so much to unfuck there that its no small task.
TBH I’d rather they get all the moving parts back into tolerance than patch a quick fix on it.
War, corporat interaction, crimewatch and intell are all adjacent mechanics and all need to be looked at together , when you try and lash one of them out in isolation you get shite like this happening.
I don’t care what you think, but this has been a real eye opener to me.
One thing you’re missing here is that the watchlist was also used extensively by anyone even pretend to be a halfway competent Corp.
The bears used it to tell when it was safe to go do bear things.
You could tell when the chancers we’re on but you could also tell when the actually dangerous lads we’re about.
Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not calling for this back, I’d like to see a more nuanced system whereby you could put in a reasonable amount of time and get a reasonable amount of intell , not the binary “have all the information or none of it” that we have had.
Here comes Dracvlad. How convenient!
The search function on this forum is magic.
I love your name
Yeah, after 100 posts of calling people risk-averse and trolling
It has been interesting to lurk here and read you coming to that conclusion, as it is something I worked out some time ago. CCP should never have given that level of free intel or largely free intel when talking about locator agents. I would not waste your time on this subject anymore, and in terms of playing the game, while war decs can be fun against similar entities, what you see in hisec is just feed machines and totally naff content. I would just advise staying in an NPC corp and staying out of it if you want to stay in hisec.
And don’t worry about dum dum, he is all talk and no action, go and look at him and Yarous having a handbags at five hundred paces and you will see what I mean.
I am obviously missed, how quaint.
That projecting tho
I will take that advise thanks, can I contact you in game later, as I want to understand this better.
Is dum dum Dom Arkaral?
