Plex is just pixels/data on a hard disk someplace. I would imagine it takes a couple of keystrokes to create one.
With that said once ccp has their computer system is setup to create Plex it only costs a few minutes labour to create one.
Therefore it won’t cost CCP hardly anything to create a plex to give to someone as commission for finding new customers. As long as CCP are strict and only give away Plex for finding a buddy then in fact their bank balance is going up because they have another person paying a sub which will hopefully last longer than 1 month.
Many businesses worldwide are happy to pay customers something for finding more customers.
In CCP case, a customer finding 1 customer who subs is worth Plex. So I got a finders fee for introducing you to eve. Simple stuff.

Probably not even that. It might be largely automated so the average and marginal costs are very very low.
Yes, that is right, IMO. CCP is providing a reward and in effect having players become sales representatives. Which makes sense in that a player will talk about how awesome the game is and it will be better with a buddy. And having buddies in game will likely induce both to stay longer. Is it a sure thing? No. But businesses do this kind of thing all the time.
I agree. So even if CCP is creating Buddy PLEX out of thin air it is in a sense paid for…by CCP.

OMG I am so sick of this kind of virtue signaling. Yes. If you can’t afford to play the game the you should stop playing. PLEX were never intended to be an EVE subsidy program.

it is. made 200 bucks today and now i stop. putting a little more effort into it until the 18th, though enough is enough for one day.
