CCP screws everyone but big nullsec cartels

So you think the only way to buff a region is by increasing rewards? You can’t understand how lowering the risk would be a buff to null? Do you know so little about EvE? If English isn’t your first language, I would understand I suppose>

See I wrote “buffed Null” NOT “buffed rewards in Null”. There is a difference. Hope this helps…….

and I never said anything about increased rewards, I said they increased profitability. for a long time HS was the most profitable despite having some of the lowest rewards, because it was, by comparison completely safe and the rewards where not different enough to be worth going away from that safety.

what exactly makes null so much safer than say low-sec? sure you got gate guns and bubbles, but besides that there isn’t a huge difference mechanically. so what makes null safer if it isn’t for the players making it that way.

as for removing local, why? thats what wormholes are for. if you like not having local, then just stick to wormholes. while we are at it, how about we add cynos to wormholes, I mean may as well make them equal right, same risks across the board. i’m sure HK would love being able to cyno around at will.

You can still make far more profit in highsec if you learn how to work the market. Your pedantic tirade is growing stale. People did not flock to null just because they could make more isk, they went because CCP allowed them to make that isk with greater safety.

I didn’t ever say null was safer than lowsec, only that for the minor increase in risk (really just bubbles) the rewards are much better. If you actually read what I’m talking about, it’s the ratio of reward to risk. Null wins that ratio.

Why no local? To change the risk to reward ratio. Notice, no drop in rewards, only an increase in risk, Oh and include the same lack of Asset Safety we have in wormholes. If CCP added those two things, I don’t see why wormholes should remain exempt from cyno’s. One of the great things about wormhole life is you learn to adapt.

the majority of people will always go to where they have the best risk to reward ratio, thats basic human nature. if you nerf null and make it more dangerous, sure it might be fine in which case we adapt. if it becomes too dangerous to the point of outstripping rewards, then we just go somewhere else. and then people will complain about THAT place being too safe.

so if they make NS exactly the same as WH space only with gates instead of holes. then what would be the point of living in wormholes anymore?

both null sec and wormholes are riskier areas of space, but they both have different risks. and thats what makes them enjoyable. people who like one set of risks can live in one place, people who like a different set live in another. just because you like a particular style of gameplay doesn’t mean you need to make the rest of the game like that.

personally, I think wormholes are too safe, being able to roll out attackers and maintain hole control to prevent increasing escallation is just too easy to maintain. so long as you have a couple scouts out you can rat, mine, whatever you want in near perfect safety unless someone has set a login trap for you. (something that exists in null as well)
I think that people should be able to open up wormholes to your space, at will and be able to bring as many ships as they want through. that way you aren’t guaranteed to almost always have capital superiority in your hole.

You wormhole hugging hippies can cry all you want in the end nullsec issues get priority through CSM and the fact CCP uses large scale fights for advertisement.
Wormholes, lowsec, highsec, abyssal space etc barely show up on the radar.

No. I’m arguing that risk is not something independent of player action and effort. Is this hard to grasp or something?

If you take precautions you face less risk. If don’t you face relatively more risk than the cautious player.

And I don’t care because that is not the point I am making.

Yet you keep going on about risk and reward while completely ignoring effort and saying things are broken.

And, FYI, I have not changed anything other than the words. I am describing the same basic idea all along. Given the environment that CCP has created, which sets the “base” risk, players then go in and do things to either reduce that or increase it. Some reduce it for themselves, others reduce risk for others, some increase risk for others.

So if we are going to talk about “risk, reward and effort” then looking at what players do is exactly the point.

Only if we leave out effort. Should an alliance who expends effort on reducing risk not reap larger rewards? Seams reasonable to me. So…no I haven’t.

But all areas of space are not the same. And before you lose it and say that is exactly what I have claimed it is not. I have stated again and again that CCP determines the environment–i.e. the “base” level of risk in different parts of the game. Nowhere does that indicate “all areas of space are the same”. Several posts back I even noted that wormholes may be such that it is harder to mitigate risk (relative to other areas of the game).

So your entire premise here is based on a fatal misunderstanding of what I have been writing.

Exactly my point.

Exactly. Couldn’t agree more.

Then take off the rose tinted glasses. There were big fights back before TiDi they just had soul crushing lag. If you weren’t already logged in, forget it. Numbers have always been a problem. Always. Pining about the good ol’ days is nothing but pure romanticism.

Not quite. CCP introduced anomalies and the infrastructure to boost ratting in NS. That was a huge change. So much so CCP had to dial it back a bit.

No, he is pointing out that you contradicted yourself in your post.

These both cannot be true at the same time. Pick one and then re-work your narrative.

Welp there goes your risk vs. reward argument. How much risk does a market trader face? Answer, not much. Whoops.

Exactly. People react to the things CCP does. They’ll either adapt in NS and we could very well see a new round of complaints about NS being out of whack in terms of risk vs. reward, or CCP ratchets down really hard and people bunk off to another part of the game or quit entirely.

Well, highsec shows up in a place quite more relevant than the public awareness: financial reports.

CCP has accomplished something special by losing 3 highsec dollars for each dollar they successfully lured into nullsec. Like, earning in 2017 the same money they earned in 2008, just in 2017 they had microtransactions and F2P lite all over the place.

The Rubicon Plan has left a legacy of a smaller game developed by a smaller company earning less money -financially speaking, CCP Seagull’s Rubicon Plan has broken the backbone of CCP’s income.

But oh, being a nullseccer is better than ever. Pity they don’t pay triple subscription fee for the privilege…

Actually we kind of do since we have multiple accounts usualy

CCP’s financial reports are broken down by NS, LS, HS and w-space? Wow…who knew.

I tried calculating up how much money I give to ccp with all of my accounts/characters every month, it almost made me cry.

RiskReward

CCP defines the parameters of EVE, including risk/reward.

What players do within those parameters, is subjective.

Fortunately stuff like paying for your 5 rorquals or whatever can be achieved by plex and using some of the isk they make

thats true, but SOMEONE had to pay cash for the plex. and the way corporate accounting works, until that plex is actually redeemed for a service, it cannot actually be counted as part of a companies revenue since the goods/services have not actually been delivered. so until plex gets used on “something” it sits in accounts deliverable limbo.

You and your dumb graphs we got risk and reward to some extent for every high income activity everywhere

Thats included in my diagram.

Some people are not distinguishing their own (subjective) choices in regards to risk/reward, from the (objective) system of risk/reward (defined by CCP) they are making those choices within.

Some people are too butthurt about nullsec while they sit in highsec mining veldspar instead of doing burners or blitzing lvl4s or station trading all which can bring decent to high income.

Wait I forgot incursions

This isnt solely about income of different activities/sectors.

It is to the rest of the crowd bitching and moaning that goons make more isk than they do

Which seems to be the sole thing you are bitching and moaning about.

There’s indirect means to estimate how have evolved the populations in each area. Compared to 2013, the population of highsec is 30% lower, and the overall population also is about 30% lower. Given the population ratios pre-Rubicon, 3 to 1 looks like a good guess on how many high players have quit for each one that increased nullsec population.
