That… may actually make them a crapload of money.
You, Sir, are a bitter vet. You’re not wrong, though.
Eve MOBA set in space, you control a ship each in 2vs2 up to 8vs8 RTS MOBA style matches on a load of chokepoint maps where space debris, asteroids and nebulas create corridors. You heard it here first!
It comes down to this:
The C-level at CCP has demonstrated over the last 5-8 years they are utterly incapable of building out a new large scale game. I don’t know if it is a lack of vision, discipline, talent or a combination of all three. So any hope for CCP to be able to recreate the success of Eve is a pipe dream.
The only way CCP will ever grow the business is to wipe out virtually all the exec’s, and bring in fresh eyes, who will stop the RMT machines in null sec, and perhaps be able to build a second game that will have a positive ongoing income stream for CCP.
Its not going to be “EVE 2.0” as they’ve done nothing but improve and add to EVE that we know. As well as cut, but the point is EVE today looks and plays quite differently from 2003 EVE. We’re already playing “EVE 2.0.” The “About” screen says: Version: 15.10.1223575
CCP looking for UE4 and character animation experience, support the notion of full scale development of a Dust 514 successor.
Bitter, salty, and triggered. Pick your meme, your not wrong.
Wow. Those are some brutally funny Reddit comments
eve 2.0 isn’t all about making a new game, behing the excels and pretty eye candy the code is a mess and they had no one learn it so they can even read it much less make changes to it. they could remake as is with new code.
Maybe something like an EVE version of Destiny. Wouldn’t surprise me if Hilmar fancied a slice of that pie. If they actually did it properly this time it could be pretty cool.
I really wish CCP would stop investing in these disjointed shallow arcady prototype games that end up abandoned in a year or two. The genres CCP is trying out are already saturated by better meatier games.
Instead, these experiences should be part of EVE itself. This way these experiences would benefit from the layers and layers of gameplay systems already present in EVE,- that are themselves shallow in isolation, but provide a compelling deep experience in union.
Dust514 in itself is a boring, second grade shooter. On the other hand, a first person / shooter experience integrated into EVE, even if simplistic in itself, can be a unique and compelling experience thanks to the framework and context the rest of the game provides.
Instead of a lame arcade shooter, the experience should be about docking at a sleeper site and scavenging for juicier loot, at the danger of being torn from limb to limb by a sleeper drone in a horror / exploration type experience. Or docking at a hostile POS with a stealthy boarding ship and stealing valuable loot. Put a bullet in Zor’s skull before saving the damsel as a(n optional) culmination of the lv4 mission, or wipe out some furry creatures in person while sparing the research station for a higher reward in Furrier Fiasco.
This sounds exactly like the EVA prototype that Torfi spoke of years ago, that was indefinitely shelved…
One of CCP’s few projects I wish wasn’t abandoned, along with all the walking in stations stuff. Would have made eve a MUCH more popular game today, with the game growing, instead of shrinking year by year.
CCP have only themselves to blame when eve finally isn’t profitable anymore, and their only cash cow dies, along with the company. (Sorry for the new years doom and gloom, but we all know it’s slowly happening. )

There is zero way ccp employees can’t see this
Some rebooted Dust FPS crap, really? God if that’s what it is then save everyone time and cancel it right now.
This. Wis is the future of eve. Getting out of the ship has always been what’s missing aside from a real quest system.
Just look at star citizen.
agreed, many games are popular for aesthetics but many people also agrue this is a game about spaceships, so it stays to nothing but docking for every little reason and constant loading screens.
