There used to be an official new player guide (pdf) before I left a couple of years back. PvP was chapter six. Not sure how many newbs read that far before logging in .
There still is, hasn’t been updated since it was published though.
Page 15 though, although a lot of the preceding stuff is a basic introduction to the game itself, and it is alluded to in Basic Gameplay in the very first part.
5 BASIC EVE GAMEPLAY
5.1 HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SOLAR SYSTEMS ARE SAFE TO FLY THROUGH?
In EVE Online it’s more a question of which systems are safer to fly through.
5.3 SOME PLAYER JUST SHOT ME; IS THAT ALLOWED?
In EVE Online, any player may attack any other player if they choose to, no
matter where they happen to be
It could certainly be more in your face and the dog eat dog nature of the game made obvious.
Thx. Lol, it’s even chapter 7. Shame on me .
Nah it’s the first part of chapter 5, although they beat around the bush about it. The first time that it’s a specific reference is indeed chapter 7 though.
See my edit.
Exactly. I prefer this statement. It should be right in front of any advertisement:
The essential core concept of EVE Online is that it is full time PvP in a sandbox environment. As has been mentioned in previous sections any player can engage another player at any time in any place. In high-sec space there may be consequences if a pilot attacks another without just cause, but they can still make that attack if they wish. In low-sec and null-sec, there are no limitations to PvP at all. Some of the wide variety of PvP styles are described in more detail below.

I wonder if Herr Wilkus will be coming back with his “Tornado Trifecta”?
What are you talking about? Dunking miners is an absolutely newbro friendly PvP activity. Now even more so since a newbro can dunk a bigger range of ships faster. An all-around buff to the new player experience for sure.
This is absolutely great for new players who are serious about actually playing this game instead of just treat it as a background farming simulator while watching Netflix.
They can. They choose not to, then claim victim cos they didnt do anything.
Its like laying in the road and crying you were defenseless when you got hit by a car.
I think this is one of the problems with Eve these days. Too many kids growing up on fortnight dont know what real pvp is.
Eve is now a game where l33t pvp is expressed in dunking mining barges and that makes me sad.
yip, it’s the kill count and no longer the skill of the kill.
doesn’t matter if it’s a shuttle, pod, corvette or frigate, this fortnight breed of PVP’ers have no skill, no tactics to killing.
Or alternatively actually consider evasion and not dying a good thing instead of the kill being the only measure of success.
Ah the whole generational ebushido thing. I never played fortnight and I play EVE like 13 years. Dunking miners is not only elite PvP, it is absolutely hilarious and the true EVE endgame.
don´t compare real life with this game only messed up people that need help can´t distinguish reality with fantasy.
If you got hit in the real life by a ■■■■■■■ car you would 1 proboly ■■■■■■■ die depending on the speed or to if you survive you would most likely sue the ■■■■■■■ ass out of who ever hit you if you got hes license plate and the driver would face real ■■■■■■■ consequences. That would make you ganker´s ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ your pants if ever had to face.
Well duh that was the point of the comparison.
Fact still stands, you die to a gank in HS its totally your own fault for letting it happen.
Fortnite hands out the game for free and then charges players for skins so they can run around fragging people in the latest fashion. PA Execs got a wiff of that monai in the air and now core elements of the game in Eve are being dunked so they can churn out skins…next I bet tehy come out with expiring skins just to keep pace.
Expiring SKINs have always been a thing since SKINs were introduced. They arent as common anymore because they are stupid.
The over the top monetization started long before CCP was bought by PA and is getting worse ever since. I agree that this is complete BS and CCP thinks they can get away with it because other games can too. And they can obviously because people are dumb enough to still give them money.
But what does that have to do with ganking? ganking was in the game from the very start but got nerfed over and over again because of demands by the new soft skinned carebear bread that can’t handle a game where you have to actually take responsibility for your own safety instead of getting it without compromise.
The constant nerfs made the game boring and stale. This recent buff to ganking will not have a big effect, but hopefully it opens up highsec piracy again for new players.
It’s still super easy to protect against suicide ganks, you just have to pick the right hull for the job, fit your ship and pay attention to the game. If that is too much to ask, then go play a farming simulator and not a competitive PvP sandbox.
I am quite impressed by all the kids here who need to compensate their self esteem issues. Someone please write me an essay about what “real PvP” is, because last I checked all PvP is real PvP, not just the one that makes you think your dick grew in size. Stop embarrassing yourselves.
Nature itself explains “real PvP” actually really well. When you die, you’re dead. The other guy wins. That’s as real as you can get. The loser doesn’t get to stand up and cry about how unfair it was and doesn’t get to invent a billion reasons about why the other guy - the winner - is bad. No. He’s dead. That’s real PvP, you ■■■■■■■ morons.
What you’re doing when you’re crying about how people don’t do “real” PvP is the most embarrassing ■■■■ I’ve ever come across people who claim to be competitive. You’re not competitive, you’re a bunch of crybabies who can’t deal with the fact that they’ve been bested and that the best people, excluding cheaters, are those who win by all means necessary.
Maybe instead of being terrible you can get better and teach others how to be better as well? Yes it’s much harder than having CCP bow down to your needs as a baby.
