I’m not sure how to reach CCP besides flying up to Reykjavik.
They’re terribly bad at responding to feedback.
Besides this thread and a link to this thread in the general feedback thread, I’ve also reached out to multiple CSM members, posted a similar thread on reddit where I got even more responses, posted feedback on the EVE discord and even commented on CCP’s youtube video announcing this new feature.
I’m sure they must have heard the feedback one way or another.
But what did I hear in return?
Nothing
So many channels CCP wants to be active on. Zero communication.
A simple response of “we have heard your feedback but we prefer it this way because …” could have opened up a possibility of discussing their reasons for it. But I haven’t seen even that.
With the radio silence I can only assume CCP wants mining to lose all flavour.
A burn Jita? I doubt we’ll rile up enough people just over some mining rock names. It’s a change that made the game shittier but not a major one to cause a huge outcry. Given CCP’s apparent inability to listen to feedback I’m afraid we’re just stuck with it.
I never tell anyone to STFU politely as Aiko just did. Statistically there is over 90% of the people here saying they sure don’t care for this change. Unfortunately this means there are 85 to 95% of the total players who also disagree with the change, but just don’t express it here. They are the silent majority. It can be more or less because here we can have multiple accounts express it, CCP should do a polling – we know they won’t – but they should when they make sweeping changes.
I find it incredibly sad when they remove content and tell players, it was for the greater good. Nothing good will come of this and I don’t think you are being 100% honest with us or yourself. I believe you think this is funny as hell and really just don’t give a damn. My issue is this game represents exactly what is wrong with us in the real world. It is indicative, showing us how much people today express the desire to change the world, but allow others to chip away at it. People use to be classified as goats and sheep. Goats don’t follow, the Judas Goat leads the sheep into the slaughter house.
For those who have an opinion on this topic, there currently is a survey about Catalyst in the launcher, which includes feedback options for every part of the update:
There was a question about these name changes specifically, and also a question on the clarity of item names in EVE in general. Starting to give off an impression like this ORE name change was just the start.
CCP could make it much easier for new players if they renamed all ships to ‘Caldari Interdictor’, ‘Minmatar Logistics Cruiser’ or ‘Amarr Bomber’ instead of those hundreds of confusing names like ‘Flycatcher’, ‘Scimitar’ and ‘Purifier’.
I should have added to my feedback form, because CCP is definitely thinking this direction!
(For any CCP employees reading this, this was sarcasm. Newbie-friendly updates are good, but do not sacrifice the universe you built up in order to dumb down parts of the game that require no such change.)
It had some basic questions about PVP and ASKED if I did PVP, because that makes sense. It had some questions about the 2D map and asked if I had tried it yet, because that makes sense.
But then it got to the mining questions and AT NO POINT did it ask if I mine, because that would affect the answers (and potentially the questions). It simply assumed I did, because of course it did because everyone mines, apparently.
The level of projection of the softie devs who made this survey is quite obvious.
Maybe they assumed if you’re filling in a survey about a mining expansion you probably mine?
Seems like an oversight indeed, as you say they’ve been pretty consistent at asking if you participate in other parts of the game before asking questions about it.
The ARC Raider developers publish surveys for feedback every couple weeks, and with every development iteration. So does about every other game developer. It’s generally considered best practice, ya know.
CCP’s questions on surveys are actually generally pretty tame and “accomodating”. I just filled out a survey for another game last week in which they asked players about a recently introduced major gameplay feature (new modes etc, more investment than CCP earns in a year, large community involvement etc) and they upfront posited the question “do you think this should continue to be developed“.
