CCP sucks all flavour out of mining with 'Veldspar II-Grade"

Thanks. That screenshot shows just how poor CCP’s UI and UX is really.

In the past, you’d see the grade of all the ores regardless whether it’s compressed or not. Now you don’t see it anymore in the name. There’s also no need at all to change the descriptive adjectives to get the nice sorting scheme. All you need to do is give the ores proper types and type sorting in the background. But that’s too much for #CCPQualityCoding

The new names tell you excactly what the item is. And you cant sort by type when using the market.

A further improvement seems possible by putting ‘compressed’ after the name instead of in front. For example Omber II-Grade Compressed

I dont like this change.
It completely eliminated need for my overview tab, adds another window ‘scan results’ or something that cannot be stacked into overview and takes very limited open space so I barely can see world, in general I am against dumbing things down catering to cognitively challenged masses.
This needs to be reversed, and the person who implemented the idea - removed, and the manager who approved it as well.

PS. I also kind of forced to re-fit my ship, removing one very important module and installing new scanner module; before this I had all this “for free” from GUI.

I like the different ore types because it forces miners to think a little more, and it puts in some challenges for them to address.

It’s also realistic.

I don’t mind the change. In RL, people do use actual grades when assessing the quality of things.

They could AT LEAST add radial menu to “Mining Survey Results” window, but no…

Its for the Xbox generation with cash to throw, no attention span and move on.

Next update the I win button.

How to disable a mining hold progress circle next to my ship ?

It seems like a redundancy. Is that not calculated into the cargo icon on the left of the HUD?

It is redundant.

I don’t know why CCP added it. Maybe the developers didn’t know the cargohold progress already shows on our UI?

I’d like to turn off the new progress circle as well.

Or is this an indication we’re going to get a UI overhaul where they’ll redo the capacitor and redo/remove all the buttons to the left of it?

Maybe they “assess things” like that in RL, but guess what they don’t assess like that in RL? Right, composition of minerals. Different composition quantities of the same subelements of stones and minerals lead to different names.
So in this case your RL comparison is totally wrong.

For reference - the composition chart is not present in the english version, so i used google translate:

Are you saying the developers don’t know the code? :open_mouth:

Actually my husband here agrees, in fact, he is curious how many “back doors” have been installed over the last +20 years.

Yes. We need more than ten visual items that tell us the cargo is full. However they believe it is a good idea to rename all asteroid ore content Rock I, Rock II, Rock III… then we have other players coming into this thread and blaming the miners for these changes. Miners want the ore names back, I am open to that suggestion about a demonstration at this point. We need to get organized, get rough and rowdy!

Have fun!

I suggested doing something before the change. Nothing violent tho. Just tossing jetcans at Jita is all. Not talking about busting up the furniture.

You are scaring me.

I hope they change the name of 1MN Afterburner II

Yup it sucks, there was no point to make the change. For anyone learning they would just need to read the text. But in reality, either your hyper focused on one Ore and jumping belt to belt to get it. or your just stripping the whole thing. No point to change something that was not broken.

And just for an additional complaint of past changes, the Mining crystals change, I want back a crystal for every type. These odd names make no sense, its no like they have different crystals for shooting at Frigates, destroyers, BC, Battleships etc. why do we need it for every type of ore and then multiply it by the 3 types and T1 and T2

Heres a great solution

Veldspar
Veldspar-5
Veldspar-10
Veldspar-15

Scordite
Scordite-5
Scordite-10
Scordite-15

As a bonus you cant tell from the overview which is which. You will have to use the mining survey scanner results or mine a sample.

It’s better than the current names. More informative yet equally bland and boring.

An even better solution however is to simply revert this mistake.

Its easy to imagine a new players first exoerience when mining. For example he warps to an asteroid field and the overview just has: Veldspar, Scordite etc. No variants.

He mines Scordite and finds Scordite-10 in his ore hold. It sparks curiosity. He may ask about it in rookie chat and before he knows it hes swept up by some mass recruiting corp and heading into war.

Are we taking the fight to them? Enough talk, I call for some action. I am not talking about, busting up the furniture or staging a walk out. This thread has lots of views, replies, and comments but it only represents a tiny percentile of the whole. If this tiny percentile thread, represents the silent ones, we are in a majority agreement. How do we get the stinkers in the game to come here and make a stink about it? You started this thread, I say, don’t let it fade away into the woodwork. I want a plan of action here to make a positive difference.

Have fun!

Its safe to assume the opinions that dominate on this forum or any social media for that matter do not represent the silent majority
