CCP sucks all flavour out of mining with 'Veldspar II-Grade"

Are we talking about Grade Zero also? That grade has ruined a lot of things for me and all players who otherwise would have an additional corporate buyer. TKP refuses to even make out orders anymore for all ore that isnt contained in a somewhat price oriented folder. (15% variance, not 50%!)
Please lets go back to the old system, or get rid of Grade zero, or try something new.

Gzero ruins every category it touches which happens to be specifically highsec miners not using .5 systems at moons.

yes, we are including G0

Yup, I am still heartily against this change.

Bring back Viscious Pyroxeres, allow for Insipid Veldspar.

Sweated scordite, piffling pyroxeres, unpleasing plagioclase.

That is odd, I just spoke about this in another thread.

Grade zero was after they created this naming nightmare. Since all grade zeroes are only found in Exordium, they could of done a lot more with name convention. However according to Fozzie, we are all far too stupid to have the original names back.

I find the subject far too serious to joke about it. I think the ore names deserve to be returned to the game and the grading levels done away. I am glad to see this thread continues.

That analysis is a direct implication that EVE is healthier than ever.

Reasoning:
Older players wouldn’t ever have problems with flavored names since they are used to it, so the remark about stupidity must reference the newer player generation.

Since the renaming was deemed necessary and undertaken, it means we have so many new players, requiring and justifying the change due to their mental inabilities. If there weren’t so many, we wouldn’t have had to rename the ore.

So from that you can directly derive that the EVE playerbase is healthy and also has so many fresh players requiring those changes. If anyone ever asks again, if EVE is already dead, you can point them directly to those new ore names. They are proof that new generations are taking over here.

I just watched this video again.

While I don’t hear him call players dumb, at 17:05 he says this line;
Another thing that’s very confusing for a lot of players, both new and old, you have to memorize a lot of adjectives.

He didn’t single out new players, he did state the veterans were included. Now, if I were a very emotional person, I might say, the developer is suggesting we are simple or cannot learn, the proper adjectives. Earlier in this thread I pointed out, he just made his job simple, and should apologize to the players.

@Lusty_Lucy_Cybaritic
I also recall, I told everyone this would be a permanent change for better or worse. Game companies never redact their changes for any reason. Well they will, if the players find an exploit and/or it hurts their revenues.

Have fun!

Fenris almost never backs down from already implemented changes. I think it has a lot more to do with inability to admit when they made a mistake, than anything else. It’s not just the game companies that do this. It’s everywhere you look, companies and individuals these days.

But this particular thing isn’t even about mistakes, or ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. There is no such thing anyway. Fenris cultivates a certain quality about what EVE is or should be like. EVE strives to be real more than anything else. A type of parallel reality. Hilmar himself has expressed such a view of EVE. Numerical values for asteroids make absolutely no sense in that context. Whoever came up with that idea never understood the nature of EVE universe, its essence.

One day a new dev will be hired who looks at this situation and proposes new names for the asteroids, instead of numeric values, to make the game more lifelike and natural. It will happen, it will just take a decade or so. A generational change needs to take place. The current generation of devs will have their ideas stale, their influence wane. New ones will come on who want to do it differently.

Personally, I don’t like this type of back and forth swinging, I’d prefer a more stable and integral approach to the core design and principles of the game. But it is what it is, and since I can’t change it I just have to ride it out.

In other words, the Dev’s constantly implement untested changes because they can and more importantly, no matter how uncalled for or how dumb those changes are, regardless if those changes break existing content or introduce new bugs, they’ll quickly implement those changes anyway in an attempt to justify their own employment…

Maybe justifying their employment may not be what we think, it may be a test, they are under evaluation and the consequences are the factor if they gonna become FC family or leave.

Perhaps it’s a model the CEO decided to adopt, risky, but it may have a clause in the contract so if it goes south, no severance pay.

Remember, that’s wild speculation from me. Because I really don’t see a good justification for their attitude, they really deploy bad stuff, like the other devs seem to not care, old silo mentality. So I came up with that idea.

maybe only the devs are confused and not the players.

Yeah, but that sure doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Seriously, if the word ‘Dense’ gives you a sense of immersion, the problem isn’t with the asteroid names.

‘Dense’ is a descriptive name you could give a rock or layer in an outcrop you encounter in the wild, like ‘fine-grained’ or ‘fiery’.

You pick up two similar sized rocks you find and one appears to be heavier. Wow this one is dense.

The old descriptive names refer to your senses, what you can see or feel when you hold it. This gives a sense of picking up and looking at uncharted rocks you encounter. A sense of being immersed in a fictional universe.

To instead see the rocks you are the first person to find already categorized by grade does reduce immersion.

Is that so strange?

Great. I already sleep bad every night in fear of my HUD since their concept was presented and defended and utterly sucks in my opinion and i don’t even see the need to change it.

However if the outcry is very loud, then FC has already undone changes on a few occasions. It always involved Hilmar stepping in and issuing apology letters. Like for the “t20 incident”, “summer of rage”, “blackout” or “scarcity”.

Yes. However, the ‘rage’ level on this one, is – unfortunately – not loud enough.
