CCP sucks all flavour out of mining with 'Veldspar II-Grade"

I’m not against the change where they grouped crystals, especially since the same patch also added multiple different crystal tiers and types for more variation. If we’d gone from 2 to 6 crystals for every ore type there simply would have been too many. Our inventories as miner would be full of different crystals to keep up with all the different possibilities we might encounter.

I can see how that change was done for balance reasons.
This change however had no such purpose.

New players can soon see the most valuable versions of ores by simply looking at the ISK values. There was no need for a rename.

@nyrak Do you know what the proposed gun renames were and what they’d have been called? It’s confusing since Gauss is the ‘top’ hybrid turret, Modulated the ‘top’ laser, Arbalest the ‘top’ missile, and Scout the ‘top’ artillery, and figuring this out has caused some mild frustration

@Gerard_Amatin you seem to ignore that ore also exists in the inventory and on the market

The players new or old, will see this for what it is, a generic cookie cutter. We are suppose to believe this is a universe of multiple factions who named things … well until they got to null and started numbering them.

The gas clouds were green in color.
“Hey, Bob! Look at that green gas cloud. What should we call it?”
“I don’t think it is green Bill, more like a lime color.”

Simply put, this decision has happened and no matter how much stink we put up about it, they will use their cookie cutter on the game. It shows to me how unimaginative these CCP developers are in their work. What this spreadsheet game lacks is imagination. Should the CCP developers in that video read this thread, THIS is why I hang my hat and open my purse in Black Desert. Casually I play here for free.

Have fun!

That is a horrible name for an asteroid, I don’t care what galaxy it’s from.

What would be a better name?

I like Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno. Eros, Icarus, and Bennu is cool too

Care to explain how this matters? It should simply have the same name as the asteroids, like now.

Can’t use the ore scanner on ore in your inventory or on the market

Items in your inventory already have a cost estimate.

And the market certainly has cost estimates.

Prices fluctuates

Yea, that’s kind of the whole point of a live economy.

Your point… ?

You cannot trust that the higher value ore is the higher yield one?

And why does that matter? It’s in your inventory already?

Are you going to jettison it when it isn’t the right value?

Could you explain your thought process a bit more?

Exactly. Because these are different ‘races’ with divergent histories. They came up with these names independent of one another, and thus the names are not identical. But they are comparable, because it’s all made by humans descended from the same ancestors. This is close to how it is in the real world, and, to me, this makes the game feel more ‘‘real’’ and plausible. (Which is ultimately what Hilmar wants).

You’d need to look up each ore variant to figure out if its grade II, III or IIII

Why?

Why not just reprocess it or sell it?

You’re not going to make any choices based on whether you have grade II or III in your inventory, are you? So why does it matter to see at a glance which one it is?

You’d need to look up each variant to make that decision afaik

I have a lot of trouble following your thought process. Sometimes I get the feeling there is none.

You need to know if the ore variant is grade II, III or IIII before deciding to refine or sell it

How so?

Just copy your inventory into an appraisal tool like https://janice.e-351.com/ to get prices.

Personally I just put it all on my refining character and refine it all.

And if you want to min-max your earnings by selling some ores and refining others, feel free to put it all in a spreadsheet that compares the refined values to the compressed values for all ores you mine.
