CCP sucks all flavour out of mining with 'Veldspar II-Grade"

They should use this system in all games. It’s so much easier.

Instead of the “King’s flaming Longsword of Haste” I’d rather have the “Grade-III-Damagemodifier Grade-III-Firedamage Longsword of Grade III-Attackspeed”.

Wonderful! And so easy to understand!

They really need to take a look at T2 names too.

1MN Afterburner II is just bad name especially because they did this for all T2 items except a few.

Medium Shield Extender II really? Its been years with flavorless T2 names

They are boring names indeed.

But that might be fitting as these are simple flavourless player-made items. They aren’t sold by some faction, aren’t dropped by specific officers or other enemies. They’re not a special adjusted meta version made to be for example more compact.

They’re simple Medium Shield Extender I or IIs.

But I wouldn’t say no to more flavourful names there either.

I hate how ammo shares the same bland names—like Anti-Matter S, M, and L. They should have more flavor. If ore grades don’t use descriptive terms, then ammo could: Antimatter, Dense Antimatter, Concentrated Antimatter, Stable Antimatter.

And then Iridium S,M,L could be renamed to Iridium Charge, Condensed Iridium Charge, massive irridium charge so on so forth

That does not make sense.

Also why are you interacting with me? I thought you blocked me?

1MN Afterburner II should get a more flavorful name like 1MN Chrono-Shift Injector and Medium Shield Extender II (most boring name ever) should be renamed Aegis Overcharge Matrix

Maybe he has a short attention span and forgot about it. Now he might try pretending he didn’t reply to you specifically.

:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I only block people for being abusive, but I find the constant trolling and petulant sarcasm funny.

Oddly enough this change, although I don’t like it, doesn’t alter my process as much as I thought. I sort asteroids by icon. Mainly because I never bothered to learn their names.

Before responding to this rebranding of ores, I did some investigation. In real life, there is no such thing as veldspar, however there is feldspar.

  • orthoclase
  • albite
  • anorthite

Are the flavors listed on the wiki. The wiki shows grade by country of origin on this ore, in the following manner;

  • Norfloat K - Norway
  • Forshammar - Sweden
  • FFF K6 - Finland

But I assume the Veldspar in this game is to make metal for ships. I continued to seek a grading system for iron ores. I found raw iron ore comes in these formations;

  • Banded
  • Magnetite
  • Magmatic magnetite
  • Hematite

I went one step further to enlist any possible “grades of ore or minerals” found in our real world. I found this Stainless Steel seller. Take a good look at the table. They do start with numbers like 301, 302, 303, etc. but near the end we have names. Discaloy, Greek Ascoloy, Jethete M-152, Nitronic 50, and Nitronic-60 are only some of those.

This change is not helping anyone at all. I see it as self serving. It has no affect on players mining. I think someone was asked, what they did at work and they quickly answered, I renamed all ores, it was super hard work. Pay me!

Obviously I need a trip to Iceland, after I finish high school to get a job there. I should be able to work with a boss that gullible. I will be able to sit at my desk, do next to nothing, and shout pay me!

Mine safe :pick:

The best outcome is reverting the change; the naysayers won’t understand its purpose until that happens.

For someone who blocked me you’re interacting a lot with me and my threads, Adada.

I agree that the best solution is to revert the name change.

Not because as a ‘naysayer I do not understand it’, but because I understand it and think it is both a redundant change and a change for the worse. There simply was no good reason to do this especially now that any miner can see the ISK value of all rocks.

Revert the names.

Those names tell you exactly what the item is. Which is essential when looking through a list of items for fitting. I want a T2 medium shield extender…..and lo….there it is. What conceivable use would calling it Magical Shieldy Thingy With Infused Vorton Crystals And Chanted Over By Priests On The Planet Xaagagaka do ?

I can only assume that people who want the latter have never actually fitted a ship.

Woosh

Need more lore and immersion in the game, not LESS

You can woosh all you like. I see no evidence you have ever undocked or fitted a ship. Its easy to give stuff fancy and meaningless names when you never have to actually fit them to a ship !

In case you are having problems, the ‘Undock’ button is over on the top right of the screen. You know…right above the empty hanger. Oh, OK, I’ll grant you an Ibis.

Wait, no, let’s not call it just a boring ‘Corvette’. Let’s call it ‘My Little Red Corvette With Chrome Bumpers And A Fringe On Top To Keep Out The Purple Rain’.

Let’s rename all T2 items. Just adding ‘II’ feels unimmersive—changing this would make the game far more immersive.

For example rename Medium Shield Extender II to Concentrated Aegis Overcharge Matrix and then Large Shield Extender II should be renamed to Dense Aegis Overcharge Matrix. For the immersion?

That may be the geological name, but when transported it is usually in the form of pellets mixed with clay and called Taconite.

Good morning,

You see we are all well educated individuals here. We understand our fiction well enough to know, we want it to make some real world sense. Otherwise we end up with this

Mine safe :pick:

I shall go fly my Mining Barge II and mine some Veldspar III.

And here I was thinking it’s weird planets have no names, and very few wormhole systems are actually not a combination of numbers.

Please remove more feel of this game, I want it even more arcade so I can smoothen my brain entirely and still manage to play it.
