Is there a way to change graphics/display settings outside of the client, e.g., in a settings file in the EVE game folders?
I’m having issues starting the game due the recent updates (yes I’ve already put in a bug report and also have tried the known fixes to no avail) and I think this may have a chance of working.
Yes there is a way, but something of a chore. CCP should start the game by default in low GPU mode but they don’t. They don’t have game settings on the launcher either. Also you should back up your settings folder too. The folder is located in;
There is a file named core_public__.yaml you can edit with any text editor. Change values you are familiar with altering. For example; window resolution.
While I’m sure this isn’t the answer you are looking for but you could launch the game in another profile. This should at least get you in the game to do stuff.
I would not recommend this, you are giving your account data to Nvidia, and trusting they don’t have some low paid intern steal your account from you. Also I tested this on a free to play game, visually it works, but lags on keyboard and mouse very horrible. They only give you 1 hour free for testing and then you pay for the ̶s̶e̶r̶v̶i̶c̶e̶ lag.
I doubt it is your PC graphics card, I am running this on a toaster oven, duck taped to a microwave oven for the wifi ( aka low budget laptop ), My system sucks, but I don’t pay for this stuff either, so I can actually afford to eat real food. If you are still having issues, don’t be ashamed to post your PC’s specs here.
