IIRC you can board a ship you own regardless of targeting.
This sounds awful in highsec. At least the jerk who scans down your MTU has to blow it up before you can scoop it. Now you have to kill him in your PvE fit mission runner to scoop it (you won’t), assuming that he doesn’t just go AFK with the MTU locked to prevent you from getting it back at all or forcing you to gank him.
So your MTU in HS is lost if another player decides to keep it hostage by targeting it?
If you leave they can freely shoot it.
If you stay they can also stay so it’s wasting both of your time.
And if you shoot then they have what they want, which is a free shot at your ship while you get CONCORDED.
This suggestion introduces a new form of abuse that doesn’t exist yet, and for no apparent reason.
I see no advantage of this change yet.
I do see a big disadvantage.
I went into this suggestion not with an opinion but just with questions to answer “Why is this change needed.”
With the example given of potential abuse and no good reason for the change I have changed my opinion.
Easy, let me reframe it.
A Damaged Object can´t be scooped and need to be repaired.
In HS this means a player is suspect for shooting it.
So you can kill him.
Alternative is Highsec works diffrent.
Why the hell do you need an MTU in Highsec… this sounds like a BUG to me if it scoops a yellow wreck anyway..
Also to be clear, i don´t live in Highsec.. this for beginners to learn the game. There is no value in Highsec if you aware of Lowsec → Nullsec → WH Space.
it would help if you gave your motive for this suggestion. are you trying to improve the game, or trying to improve your game ?
in HS MTU are mostly shot to become suspect and perhaps bait someone into attacking you. in null-sec, you can kill the ship that scooped the mtu without concord engaging, making your suggested change useless. you could also explain how your suggestion would help new players;
so what are you trying to do, that you can’t, and are rationalizing that the game should change, to accommodate you?
**I am not talking about MTUs, i was not aware which they are so heavy used in HS and a live dependet. **
My problem is a Bubble which is in deep Hull and can be scooped anytime.
These bubbles only exist in Nullsec and Wormhole Space.
But i guess it also counts for anchored containers and every other object you can anchor in space.
Which my suggestion is right now if something is damaged into Hull you can´t scoop it until you have repaired the hull damage.
So this wouldn´t create the hostage situation in Highsec with the MTUs by just locking it.
Which still would let you access the loot as the owner.
An agressor would likly kill the MTU to get on the loot.
My point you anchor something… and if it gets shoot you just scoop it and be like jeah this 50m worth of object is not gonna die and probably if you deploy it again has full health again without being ever repaired. (need to check it how to object behaves)
As said it is minor but doesn´t feel logical right.
thank you for explaining; i personally have love-hate relation with bubbles..
there are some objects which can’t be repaired in space; damaging them would make it unrecoverable. and since you mentioned new players, a 10 million mtu for a new player mining in a venture, is not a small amount. and mtu can go to over 100 million even empty.
following your own suggestion, why not just kill the ship scooping the bubble ?
i’ve never liked that bubbles stay active even if nobody is on-grid. they should shut down and un-anchor after a certain time, imo.
Your SS is 4.95 and stick to Angel PvE… Now I clearly see what you ment when was speaking about “value” and who are begginers for you. Sorry but not everyone attracted by that gameplay.
You started it and wanted to show yourself, calm down nullsec citizen. As other pilots mentioned, you can follow your suggections and kill the ship, there is no problem with… only one… if you afraid or can’t.
MTU is also heavily used in nullsec and life dependent there, you know it, nullsec is full of MTU. It was funny to see how multibox pack is warping with badger to collect them (or what is left…).
In the mean time, just shoot the ship and in the nullsec you are already with friendly fleets around and CONCORD would not stop you, nothing to afraid of! Just shoot that ship, or call for a help in intel if fleet is needed for that job.
Just because the feedback on the idea is negative does not mean it is not constructive, not respectful or not a positive discussion.
(As someone went on a flagging spree I edited out the part about flagging that I suspect got this post flagged too.)
Is there a reason you still wish to push for this change despite counterarguments which have convinced me already? I still do not see why this has to be changed, and see good reasons why it should not be changed.
