It’s 60 secs on a gate, which sounds like a lot. But sometimes I use every bit of it when I find myself in a sticky situation.
I can imagine using every bit of gate cloak, I’ve done so myself. But do you use every bit of it to see your surroundings?
Because the total time of you sitting in that system under gate cloak has not been changed. You jump through and appear in local, sit in cloak for exactly the same duration as before. The only thing that changed is that you now see your surroundings a bit later when grid has loaded.
It looks cool but as others have stated it takes way too long and actually eats into your timers on the other side. Travel now takes longer and the fact that you KNOW that technically you’re already in the other system but have no control over your ship just feels horrible.
It looks nice but only adds problems and downsides: one step forward, two steps back. This is not how you make improvements to a PVP dominated sandbox.
I lost 8 secs to react to my surroundings, while the other party gained 8 secs.
I’m checking the ships, pilots, zkills, celestials, etc. so it’s a lot to do in a short time.
Or sometimes I just align and hit warp ASAP (if they don’t have a bubbler and I’m quick), to catch the other party off-guard. That’s now gone.
I think this animation is a not-well-thought-out change that adversely affects (my) gameplay.
And for reference, I never complained once about the red dots, because frankly they did not adversely affect gameplay. They’re just annoying.
My system runs it smoother and i like the warp tunnels. There’s some weird sun flare circles thing that kinda looks cartoony but other than that sweet!
Hmm but i dont like being loaded into local earlier… that changes a fundamental thing i enjoy about this game… so can we still have that because i want that more
I don’t like how the new jump animation loads us into system whilst we are still in the animation for 8 seconds. This gives hostiles massive advantage, and I am concerned how the invulnerability timer also starts 8 seconds before we load into system. How will that work with heavy time dilation and traffic control ? Will it now be possible for us to loose invulnerability whilst still waiting for the traffic control to let us into system ?
At the risk of sounding excessively snarky, I’m going to guess that you’ve never lived anywhere but high sec.
I just heard the new animations cost 8 seconds after jumping into a system, this is completly UNACCEPTABLE for nullsec hunting,
I have been working for years to improve my tackling after jumping in by single server ticks, saving a single d-scan already results in 3 seconds gain, 2 d-scans equals the align time of a slow ratting ship!
My corpmate from Australia has given up tackling a long time ago with is 15-20s loading times.
So is this 8 seconds total? Because the old system already had a delay of a few seconds. Are we making this change out to be more than it is?
I made a 30j Jita run just after DT so I was able to get the full experience of this new animation. Looked very nice the first few times but my impression was that it was adding significant time to the jumps. I liked it less as time went on in the journey. I’m not a hauler but would be interested to hear more about the performance improvements vs. animation run times.
Did this include the ‘you’ll see everyone who jumps with you’ that was announced last year as part of the plan?
If so, how much is that going to add to gate-tunnel load times if 300+ ships are jumping into a fight together?
Hunting in nullsec is a game of seconds. There is already ample time for people to escape from anoms, they do not need more.
Slower gate jumps no thanks, please make an opt out in the menu…
Everything in null is a game of seconds, and fractions of seconds. Anything that means the game is delaying our ability to communicate back and forth with the server is negatively impacting gameplay across every region of nullsec.
That’s why it is ? it would be better to fix the sound!

What are all the negs of being loaded into local a little earlier? I dont have a pvp background. I just do nullsec hauling and exploring.
Living in high sec the last couple of days to bash structures. Apart from that you won’t likely find me outside null sec.
No new skins? What a disappointment.
