Because you are wrong and no one buys your so called obvious?
You want to have covert drops, but you don’t want to have covert drops after some period “X” of somebody showing up on local in a cloaked ship.
Since everybody has a different opinion about X, it is extremely idiosyncratic.
You, furthermore, think that the period “X” should depend on how active the person in local is, maybe.
X should equal 24 hours and reset if the user logs out
Cloaks are not the real problem. Local is. Remove local from null!
I think the biggest issue about cloaky camping is that it makes people stop logging in. Say what you want about “krabbing” but from what I can see the more experienced players are able to adapt somehow, and do other activities if the system is camped.
The newer players do not. They log in, see the same camper in local that has been there for the last few weeks, and log off again. They are at the stage in their Eve career where they like to mine and rat, and if they can’t they don’t bother playing. Especially when it is something that can’t be countered without a lot of organizing.
That is what is happening, whether you like it or not.
Define ‘newer’? I’m a little incredulous that anyone who is ‘newer’ and not part of an corp with cloak camper response policies is owning space where this would be an issue. If they are a member of a corp with response policies, they wouldn’t have a reason to just log out - they would lean on those policies to be able to continue ratting/mining/whatever. Every corp I’ve researched that holds space for themselves has SRP in place for these situations if you are hot-dropped and caught when you attempted reasonable mitigating actions like being aligned to warp out and keeping local/dscan visible and refreshed.
Heh. So CCP killed wardecs, to protect highsec krabs. Now they need to protect nullsec krabs? Makes sense.
Null krabs are now new players.
Huh.
And?
Plenty of places in Hi-sec for that. Especially for the “new” player
By “newer” I refer to people who have been playing only a few months. Or players who on paper have played for years, but haven’t actually played for more than a few months and still has a lot to learn.
Personally I try to adapt. If there are no cloaky campers in the system, I might go rat or mine. If a cloaky camper is present then I do other stuff, like making more gate pings, jump freighting, organize my assets, light a filament, whatever. But this is, at least in my experience, not how newer players want to play.
We try to encourage to do other activities if the system is camped, but some simply don’t want to. In their eyes they can’t play the game the way they want, and as a result of that they stop logging in. That is simply how it is. And that’s an issue.
We all want to show newer players everything Eve has to offer right? It should be possible for newbros to move to null and learn the game, at least in my opinion.
If only it was that easy. /facepalm
That is the gist of it, nothing else matters, great post.
I will answer to THE question.
Why nerf cloacky ?
- No viable counter .
- Use for making grieffing (and so make player leave the game, who is bad for healt of the game).
- AFK gameplay (but when i see CCP nerf super who can"t be play AFK … i think they want afk gameplay).
It’s like old war system : You make people stop log in and stop the game beacause they have no way to counter you. And no matter you said about "AFK can’t do ", or "not a threat if ". the result is : people stop to log in. And it’s why you must nerf it.
Wow just no
This is pretty weak. What’s next, me suiciding a smart bomb BS into their Drones is also “grieffing”? What do you think should be done about that?
No, cloaks shouldn’t be nerfed. Also, they do have counterplay.
(It’s just the afk cloaky gameplay that needs addressed).
Great reply however I took it as you were commenting more on AFK cloaky.
Perhaps change this:
To Why nerf AFK cloaky ?
Your comments apply to that I believe.
Ok, explain me how to find a cloacky in a system.
In viable time.
Don’t exist. If you want hide in cloacky and never be foudn you could.
So cloacky need a nerf. After the nerf could not hurt people who move a lot beetween system. Or people who uncloack times to times to shoot.
But for me if you are AFK or active and cloack for HOURS => you need to be counter.
If you think cloaks do not need a nerf, but afk cloaking needs to be addressed, we’re on the same page.
Be careful when you ask for general cloaking nerfs, cloaks themselves are fine as they are.
For me if you are ACTIVE and always cloack without never uncloack for reasons … you need to be counter to.
Nah, if they really never uncloak I’m fine with the active cloakers.
It’s when they uncloak that they pose a danger. If they’re just cloaky eyes they can’t do much.
