It doesn’t do the exact same thing. Fleet warp is an extremely limited group mechanic that changes the flight speed of the ships included in the fleet warp to coordinate their movements, triggered via in-game command that all players have opted in to, and restricted to the control of specific fleet members. It still cannot (and should not) account for things like pre-align to the correct target, or letting the FC set a minimum fleet warp speed (to auto-exempt slower than X warp speeds), etc. It is an extremely limited feature that represents realistic combat coordination behaviors that the game interface does not otherwise allow - for example, we cannot manually set our warp speed on a per-jump basis.
Broadcast input is sending the same command on multiple clients without any in-game directives or controls around the behavior, and is not limited to a single type of action.
The former is a functional gameplay mechanic intended to allow for varied ship configurations in a fleet, without forcing inane ‘time to target’ shenanigans just to get your whole fleet to arrive in a coordinated fashion. It is a benefit to all players, equally accessible and with well-understood mechanics.
The latter is using out of game software to cheat by removing player involvement with the game on a per-instance basis.
If you cannot see the difference between a carefully crafted mechanic that addresses a reasonable in-game, logical-to-the-world function, and players cheating with broadcast inputs across all their gameplay activities warp, target lock, module activation, etc), we have nothing to discuss.
If you are comparing isboxer 1 button input vs fleetwarp then align time is meaningless since in both instances ships will all go into warp when commanded. Yes isboxer is probably worse since IF you are using multiple different types of ships then they will all arrive at different times.
I still don’t see a difference other than its probably better than isboxer since it allows people to all arrive at the same time.
I bet people who used isboxer to spam 1 button inputs called it a “carefully crafted mechanic” also.
Admit it, the bar for 1 button inputs is only where the Null community agrees to put it, because the only typical use for this in Hisec is warp CODE to 0.
Well that’s your issue.
CCP decided that initiating a fleet warp is good, while isboxer is bad. If you don’t understand that, not a problem : just accept it. Because that’s how it is, and the fact that you are not able to understand why they are two different things is irrelevant.
I guess you are the kind of person who don’t understand why IWI was banned and hypernet is here, and rather claim this was a way for CCP to make more money rather than try and understand what was wrong in what was banned.
So I answer you : your opinion on where the line should be drawn is irrelevant. It’s CCP’s only opinion that matters. In that case, they decided that initiating a fleet warp is good, while ISBOXER, which allows more, is bad, and that’s all there is to it. ISBOXER was not banned because it allowed fleet warps. It was banned, because it allows more.
You claiming they are the same thing, while they definitely are not, is just stupid.
Yes both have a 1 button action that provides multiple accounts to provide the simultaneous action of warping.
How completely different.
1 is illegal and 1 is legal, while both generally do the same thing.
Difference? CCP magik
Btw most people believed blink was removed at the time because CCP was taking a hard stance against gambling. They sure made that clear.
Yes i know he was RMTing save us the history.
No they don’t do the same thing. THAT is the difference. They ARE NOT the same thing. Just because they CAN have the same effect does not make them the same thing.
“hey look I can kill someone with a gun, and I can kill someone with a spoon, it means they are the same things!”. NO.
Your repeated strawmen are vain attempts at claiming BS.
Let’s go with the whole premise that fleet warp is the exact same as isboxer… let’s just go with it for a second. That means we also need to eliminate the following because they allow multiple actions on one button press
Grouping weapons
Setting drones to aggressive
Setting drones to guard
Setting drones to assist
Launching multiple drones at once
Multiple drone return
This is a stupidly bad slippery slope argument. But let’s continue with it. Let’s say you’re completely right. It doesn’t matter; go read the EULA. CCP determines what they consider legal and illegal in Eve Online. This isn’t a democracy, its a dictatorship…
In case you haven’t noticed drone aggro has been pretty terrible lately. Between that and npcs targeting drones more frequently now, it is not logical to worry about them.
