The Reason you would use a armor Loki over shields is the resistance pattern.
For EM/Therm you just cant really beat Minnie Armor fits, if you are flying against Therm/Kin/Explo the shield fits are better.
Also regarding the Tengu, it get a better range bonus and more DPS in missiles so it depends on wether you like lights or more missile DPS.

Finally got to test this in my normal stomping grounds. Verdict: excellent for Annexes. Very bad for BR 6/10 due to how Crimson Lord repairs. Lower volley/higher sustained simply works far better there. Iâll stick to my Legion for now and possibly try the missile sub just to see how it goes.

Upgrade the tank to A/X and even without swapping to hardeners youâre looking at something ludicrous like 870 rat-specific DPS tanked while dishing 700 with CN and 825 with Rage. As long as youâre ok shooting kinetic this looks pretty ridiculous.

The 100MN AB is ideal for Loki, as it capitalizes on the speed/sig of this particular T3C as Minnie.
Unusually, Lokis are now better as missile ships.
Especially as you donât cripple your own tracking at high speeds as you do with AC/Arty.
PLUS you get more drone bandwidth/bay. (?!)
Only when shooting Kinetic, Loki deals more dps on all other damage types.
Yeah I know, but if you if you are running WH, Gurista or Serp sites that is not an issue (WH sites also eat drones and web so the extra range is nice). Mix that is the nice tank on the Tengu (especially for Kin.Therm) and its not a total win for the Loki.
Not saying that the Loki is bad (its way better for PVE than it ever used to be, just that there are other options that are just as good and situationally better.
Dirt cheap Tengu fit, does 520 dps with decent skills, reps 700hp per 4 seconds and cap stable, may need cheap powergrid implant. Can do 6/10âs and 10/10âs. Be careful about webs obviously.

With good skills:
4950 hp (47k effective) with mid grade slave implants, 89% / 91% thermal / kinetic resistance
829 dps with some dps hardwirings, more possible for less tank
Cap Stable at 35%, reps 640 serpentis dps cold and 1424 dps when overheated.
Uses the covert sub over the active one just for having cloak by no effective disadvantage.

It is expensive but I like the good tank while keeping relatively high dps, and it feels very versatile. When travelling through nullsec with nullifier sub and some warp core stabs, you can swap the mid slots for analyzers and are ready to scan while travelling. Mobile Depot is obvious.
For me the overhaul of the T3s made my proteus even better. At least it feels like that atm
