This is essentially accurate, though doesn’t cover everything. For me personal it’s about operational freedom. It’s one thing to dodge the Caldari Navy all the way to Jita. It’s another entirely to be banned from operating in twelve regions of empire space, because if you stopped for even a second you’re swarmed by hostile navy ships.
They’re killable but endless waves using all types of EWAR save scram. More importantly they hunt you down anywhere in the system: deadspace, combat anoms, just hanging out in space, anywhere.
It just doesn’t really make sense. Even in lore the whole militia war powers act is a proxy war which is fundamentally limited in scope and rules of engagement.
Ever since i joined EVE in 2011 I’ve been told “choices have meaning”. So im -10 with gal and min. Im fine with that. Those were my choices to tank the standings. And theres plenty of options available if i wanna fly through the trash space.
As far as access to gal space, i leave that up to my Alts for access if i need to run the soe arc.
Eve is one of if not the only mmo that what you do matters and your choices have consequences. You wanna participate in something like FW fine, be prepared to lose standings to the enemy.
If i really wanted to, in a matter of 2 or 3 days i could have my gal standings back to zero if i wanted.
If i really wanted to, in a matter of 2 or 3 days i could have my gal standings back to zero if i wanted.
And how would you accomplish this?
If choices really had consequences you wouldn’t be able to pass through enemy space, they’d stop you altogether. You wouldn’t be able to dock in enemy stations anywhere, they’d stop you. You wouldn’t have freedom of movement in enemy space at all. The choice you’re praising here is entirely without meaning because it’s an artificial systems choice and not a meaningful game play environment choice.
The only thing you accomplish by having it work this way is barring people who do enjoy PvE activities from participation unless they want to multibox or start over with a new character. I have zero desire to do either.
at -10 it would take you literal years to repair this standing without access to the appropriate empire specific arcs in addition to soe. this reply is misleading.
No its not. Like i said i can fix it in several days. If 1. You had the empire arc corporation at 5, then that will grant you access to the arcs when your effective standing is high enough with skills.
You can pay us to raise your standings
You can spam alpha alts with 1 mil sp to do it your self. Between follwing @DeMichael_Crimson s plan or finding other alternatives its not a difficult endeavor
The corporation and agent standing doesn’t matter if you’re -5 on the faction. That shuts down all missions above 1. None of your suggestions are viable for a lone character which was the entire premise of the post.
You seem to be rather confused about how this works. Yes, I’ve read that document and much besides. You’re not telling me anything I don’t already know, but for the sake of the argument, if you want to refer to specific sections I can clarify how this works for you.
I had been thinking of joining FW and learning to do some solo PvP.
However, I really don’t want to do NPC missions as a ‘consequence’ for my actions. I like about EVE that I haven’t had to do any fetch and kill for NPCs since I left the tutorial almost 6 years ago and I’d like to keep it that way.
So, do I understand correctly that if I want to do FW today (for Gallente) and at a later time I might want to do FW with possible new friends that play on Caldari side, I’ll be forced to grind NPC missions first?
I may have to rethink that idea to even touch FW if that’s the case.
Then don’t do FW and just third-party pirate the warzone.
Jeezus the way people complain about standings makes me wonder how we went from CalMil to GalMil to MinMil in the span of a few months without any standings problems. Must have been years of grinding in between those months.
My advice would be to create an FW alt for each side you want to fight for or at least one.
Of course this is best if you do this as alpha or you have at least one free slot for at least one FW alt in case you want to do it as omega, assuming you don’t want to sub or PLEX another omega account just for this.
That way you surely won’t be limited by the consequences of FW on your other characters and can more efficiently support your FW alt with your other characters (including ISK generation, neutral hauling and so on).
Of course this means you have to train the FW alt separately so that is a great downside but as you always have to pick your fights wisely this should not be too bad at least after your FW alt is at least decently trained.
I had been looking forward to the recent update that allowed my main to join FW without leaving my corporation, instead of an alt. That way I can make use of all the character skills I have already learned over the years.
But if the only way to switch between FW factions is to do missions for NPCs, I’d rather look for PvP in other parts of space.
Anyway, regarding the process of repairing Faction standings, that’s pretty easily done if in the past you’ve never run any of the Event Agents, and by Event Agents I mean Career, Circle, Data Center and Cosmos Agents.
Course first of all, make sure you have all the Social skills trained up to gain maximum standing increase for completing Agent missions as well as max Diplomacy skill to reduce / raise your negative standings.
Now if you’ve tanked Caldari Faction to -5.00 or lower standing, then you’ll need to run Amarr level 1 Event Agents for derived standing increase to Caldari. Continue with level 2, then level 3, etc until Caldari Faction is above -5.00 standing, then you can safely run Caldari level 1 Event Agents.
Main thing to remember is to check your standings after completing each Event Agent so you’ll know when to switch Factions to quickly gain max standing increase.
There’s actually more to this then just running Amarr and Caldari Event Agents, at some point (depending on how much repair you need to do) you’ll also have to run some of the Event Agents in the other Factions to maintain your positive standings.
It’s basically a dance going 2 steps forward and 1 step back, all Faction standings will do a see-saw action after completing each agent so always make sure to check your standings before going to dance with another agent.
Also when you get above -5.00 standing with the 4 main Empire Factions, you can then run the level 1 Epic Arc.
But why? They could likewise simply remove the standings considerations entirely, which would considerably increase the amount of engagement that players have with the FW system
It’s like you have a pizza shop that makes every customer do a backflip before getting their order. “If you want to enjoy a delicious slice, you’ll have to be prepared to work for it.” Well, no, people can just go to the competitor across the street and get one handed to them on a plate without jumping through any extra hoops.
Also, while the standings guides are useful, you have to acknowledge that following them is:
A major grindy hassle that takes a lot of time and effort
Can only be done once (if I understand things correctly)
