Continued Scarcity

You appear to be alone in that view.

Yes I think several of them seem to think I’m accusing them of exploiting which isn’t the case

I’m talking about the security of high sec and why it isn’t total … lore / RP wise

That’s where you trip. There is NO ā€œsecurityā€ in EVE, only punishment that happens to come sooner or later.
The descriptions of space in New Eden ( high ā€œsecā€, low ā€œsecā€, null ā€œsecā€ ) do not pertain to the Security given to anyone but only pertain to the time it takes for CONCORD to respond.

Yes very quick in 1.0 making it more secure against piracy and slower in the lower numbers until 0.5 being the slowest response and least secure against piracy

So there definitely is a concept of security in the game , hence why CCP named it system security.

So you are arguing the lore/rp behind this? Why start this off topic here, and create a topic under lore discussion then?

My apologies , never intended to totally derail the thread , its just the way the conversation developed .

There is indeed a concept of security in EVE, but NOT for the capsuleers, ONLY for the individual solar systems with regards to how fast CONCORD
reacts
.
CONCORD aren’t cops, they do not provide security for the capsuleers, they’re not bodyguards, they’re only judges and executioners.

When CONCORD shows up, it’s NOT FOR YOU, it’s for whoever infringed on the rules of the system: namely the system security status.
They show up even if NO capsuleer is in ā€œdangerā€.
Try to shoot an NPC structure or a gate and see what happens.
CONCORD aren’t your friends.

Perhaps your right conceptually but the response time effects capsuleers security as piracy is more expensive and difficult in higher security systems , therefore capsuleers are better secured against it .

Much like in real life the only thing stopping you from doing crime in hisec is the consequences. Much like in real life you can choose to commit crime in hisec and face the consequences (destruction, in EVE’s case). The mechanic has been and is fully intentional in EVE. PVP is not griefing and you have no real security anywhere. There is only consequence for action, and whether it’s delivered by NPCs or players depends on where you are and when. If CONCORD kills a Catalyst before it pops your mining vessel, it’s incidental.

That’s what is intended with the mechanics put in place by CCP, it does affect capsuleers since capsuleers are in space and we are free agents but not solely because of piracy. There’re a whole slew of reasons for which CONCORD would react but it has nothing to do with providing you with security.
CONCORD doesn’t care about you… unless you infringe on the rules of the system you’re in.
They’re punishers, not protectors.

We agree then and I for one am thankful regardless of concords intent

I guess we agree, but there’s really nothing to be thankful for although that’s a nice sentiment you’re expressing. It’s only game mechanics designed by CCP in order to delineate the different sectors of space, not designed with capsuleer security in mind.
There is no security in New Eden, only areas where CONCORD reacts within a time frame dictated by the security levels of the solar systems.

The skilled gankers do math. They figure out how many catalysts, thrashers, or tornados a target will require to be alpha’d off the field. 19 seconds is forever because they don’t even have to do it with one shot.

I’ve wondered, since catalysts seem the be the most common for gank swarms, if emphasizing kinetic and thermal in your tank wouldn’t be a good anti-gank thing.

What! I’m just trying to help.

Taking notes…
Best way to find out is to try.

Most definitely don’t want thermal or kinetic holes, but coercers, purifiers, thrashers, and tornados are not infrequently used. Hard to say what ammo the latter two most often use.
