Title. A good example would be wormholes, when you jump through the signature is automatically discovered, so you can warp back to the signature. I accept there could be downsides to this I cannot think of, I’m interested in hearing them if someone has input.
There’s a “center on ship” button in the probe scanner window. Pop probes at .5 AU range, press that button and hit scan. That’s how you scan a sig you’re on grid with.
If the grid isn’t hot, performing this scan whenever you enter a new wormhole only adds a couple clicks. If the grid is hot, what sig you’re at is irrelevant until you GTFO. If you don’t bookmark the wormhole itself, you’ll still have to fly through them to get to it.
What you said is absolutely true, and also only works on ships with scanner equipped.
My question is two parts; who does this help, and who does this harm? It would be a serious upgrade/quality-of-life change for anyone moving through WH space. Does it harm WH dwellers somehow?
I really couldn’t care less.
I pointed out how to quickly scan the sig you’re at, and nothing more.
I will neither endorse anything I consider a waste of dev resources, nor argue with people who think two extra clicks is too much effort. Dealing with people like that is too much effort.
If CCP decides to waste resources on saving you two clicks, they’ll do so. They’ve certainly made worse decisions in the past.
Go for it. Actually, expand it so if you’re ongrid with any exploration target, it’ll resolve the site in your scanner menu.
