Deliver goods to NPC stations

so, for the player owned structures, you can deposit goods from your cargo into a structure directly from space, what would be nice is if you could do this for stations too.

that’s all

This functionality was created for Upwell structures to allow players to drop off cargo for hauling contracts to those player owned structures even if the structure blocked docking access. It was a common scam that made delivery contracts to unknown Upwell structures very unattractive.

No NPC station blocks docking access. You can simply dock up to drop off your goods.

Is it convenient that Upwell Structures have some features that NPC stations do not have? Sure! But the drawback for such convenience is that your structure needs to be fueled and defended, unlike NPC stations.

all this is true granted, but when it comes to mining and hauling and salvaging, it would mean faster drops offs and can get back to the content at hand.

it always sucks having to dock and undock. it would just be nice to have for NPC structures is all.

I understand that, but I also think it is healthy for the game if Upwell structures offer some benefits like these to make it attractive to anchor and defend them with your group.

agreed, maybe a system where i can load it from space into an NPC station, but there is a time delay, similar in concept to asset safety, but without the cost attached, i mean… i’m only interested in staying in space without dealing with loading screens, i don’t really care how long it takes the assets to pass through the station customs.

which would also be kinda cool, with the development of vanguard having station based customs checks like that for people making deliveries.
maybe something to that for vanguard or NPC mining rats returning to stations.

An Astrahus can hold infinite m³ and costs only 1.5b.

true, but i’m not looking to own a structure.

I’m with @Gerard_Amatin ; player structures should have some unique operating aspects.

I dont think people will stop anchoring structures if you could deposit cargo to NPC stations without docking

People wouldn’t stop either when you grant them any of the other individual benefits of Upwell structures.

It’s the combined benefit of multiple QoL upgrades that needs to be worth it for players to put down Upwell structures.

I’m sure people can live without this benefit on NPC stations.

If there’s no downside to adding it, people shouldn’t have to live without it.

I already explained one downside of giving advantages of Upwell structures to NPC stations.

honestly i think the premise of not giving this one element to NPC structures is entirely bogus, players shouldn’t have to keep dealing with loading screens just to drop stuff off and they shouldn’t be forced into having to sink ISK into a structure which can automatically opens them up to not only risk but being griefed by other players as placing a structure is in essence giving consent to being war decced.

not to mention the additional costs of quantum cores (which is one of the key elements which give structures their uniqueness compared to NPC structures) then you have module costs, then fuel costs.

all for the benefit of being able to drop something into a structure from space?

honestly thats not just an ISK Sink its out right extortionate and also can alter someones play style for such a small conveninece.

the point of upwell structures is that they can be completely tailored to specific job and roles, fit the way you want and even give you access to moon det content as well as constructing things both cheaper and faster.

all i’m asking is to be able to deposit my goods, as mentioned before i’m not too bothered if there’s some kind of security checkpoint scan, i just don’t want to deal with the hassle of constantly dealing with loading screens.
