Make up your mind, either they decrease value due to creating a surplus or they increase value due to limited availability.

They decreased in value due to surplus introduced by botting, thus reducing the reward value to legit non-bot players running that content.

The HS DED modules I used to procure by running associated content have dropped in isk value by 1/3-1/2 over the last 5yrs or so.

This ia not to say HS DED sites are botted, as probing them down is still something bots cant do, but that the cascade result of botting elsewhere for equivalents that can be sourced by botting, has depressed demand for HS DED modules.

Meanwhile PLEX value has super-inflated from about 5-600mil then, to 1.5bil now.

Just read any player comments with what PA did to BDO a few weeks ago in August. Massive P2W changes. You don’t spend $425m to contnue with a F2P option without a plan to milk that investment back from the rest of the playerbase in the form of P2W content. CCP has zero say in the direction EVE takes henceforth nor do they care since they’ve received their payday.

This will all become painfully obvious in the next 6-12 months. Best thing you can do is to remove your credit card information and unsubscribe. Don’t say you weren’t warned. Oh, and PA is a publicly-traded company. So it’s not like it was their money to begin with. When BDO and EVE implode the stock price of PA is going to be worth about as much as MoviePass.

I m not complaining for CCP they started making ■■■■ with skill injector turning this game as a pay to win …
At least this will end up with the politic they have since some year …it would probably end up or could be worst …I m waiting and see …tho one thing is sure …Pearl Abyss hate scammer , and do what have to be done on BDO to get rid of bot and keep equitality between Lone wolf player and Big corpo /guild player…unlike EVE used to do always taking good care about large corpo rather than lonewolf player.
It s my only advice and i understand people aren’t agree with that .r

And the ethos behind the economy is the exact opposite to Eve, you couldn’t get any further polar opposite. For example you cannot give another player an item ( apart from some trivial items ), you MUST use the in game auction house to exchange items between players. To explain how it works would take a huge amount of text, but suffice to say it doesn’t work the way you might expect. The devs set a price range for items, so the free market doesn’t set the price. For expensive items like high queality weapons the rules get even weirder. The amount paid by the buyer, is not the amount the seller gets, and I don’t mean a small tax shaved off the sales price like Eve, I mean a sword will get the seller a fixed amoutn say 100 million but the buyers can bid billions on it. The difference just dissappears. As a seller you get a fixed price, not what the buyers pay.
If Pearl Abyss try to change Eve to fit their culture you will not recognise it at all. Cornerstones of Eve will just dissappear. It will be a vastly different game.

Perhaps one of the reasons PA bought CCP was to learn from EVE’s economy to help make BDO a more rich and complex game?

Might be wishful thinking, but a lot of the press seems to suggest they are interested by the way CCP has run things with EVE and wish to learn from them to apply things to their own game, so… hopefully the market is one thing that will only be changing in BDO as a result of this acquisition and not in EVE.

How could I? Those users have left EVE or are now fully addicted to the skins and clothes and get all happy when CCP gives them another trinket that they have to pay for in addition to their subscription. It goes so far that those people now call out people who don’t wear skins on their ships in fleets and demand that people should buy skins. There is no user power to prevent any of this any more.

There’s plenty of us that are mostly enjoying the skins we get for “free” (time, effort, but no cash) from things like the regular events… and rarely if ever buy skins for ISK (let alone for plex/real cash).

Since there are so many ways to get skins in this game, you can’t assume that all skinheads (okay, that doesn’t sound right, but let’s go with it) are all spending IRL cash on the skins they crave. That’s just not so.

To expand EvE beyond a niche game would require diluting the ethos of EvE, which I’m hoping they won’t be stupid enough to do. Another option would be to use their experience to produce a tie in ground based MMO for PI interaction. This could work without messing with the core of the game.

Don’t forget this also nets them the new mobile game CCP is working on and any and all Gunjack, Valkyrie, Project Nova, etc. etc. tie-ins. So yeah, there could be spin-offs, for sure.

If a material is needed for Eve production it needs to be made in Eve and defended in Eve.
This isnt to say tie ins cant happen. Dust gave bonuses to stuff.
But making one game entirely dependant on another is bad design.

I wouldn’t say eve is dead yet, but it could very well go to hell very quickly or maybe it won’t, and lets just hope it doesn’t and good stuff comes from this whole thing (probably wishful thinking but still) and if it doesn’t then maybe its time to abandon ship

There’s much cheaper ways for PA to learn from CCP other than splashing out $425mil to acquire the company. As it’s been mentioned by others already, PA will want to see some ROI on that and I doubt they’ll be willing to wait a few years for that to happen or accept payments in ISK.

Anyway, I’ll join you in your wishful thinking. Let’s hope that in a while we can all look back at this episode and admit we were worried for nothing. Would sure as hell beat an “I told you so!”
