Dev blog: Black Desert Online makers Pearl Abyss to acquire CCP!

frankly if they could do some contract to the players deal where they promise to keep eve away from lootbox junk and P2W tactics, i would be much happier. but we all know that wont happen.

Eve Online maker CCP Games sells to Black Desert Online’s Pearl Abyss for $425 million

I just wonder what Koreans would want for such an amount.

Pearl Abyss CEO Robin Jung, in a statement. “CCP is a seasoned publisher with over 15 years of digital distribution experience and know-how. They have done an incredible job of engaging and maintaining their playerbase, which we aim to learn from and integrate natively into Pearl Abyss’ general practices across all our games. I am confident CCP’s reputable IP and expertise in global publishing will help reaffirm our company’s dedication to developing and servicing the world’s best MMORPGs.”

It sounds like they are wanting to learn from CCP rather than CCP learn from them.

Nah, I was thinking ‘new’ T3 ammo, 25% more damage than t2 and no drawbacks…In the plex store…The ‘new’ gold ammo for EvE Online.

hell i know right.

whens the jita monument shoot gonna start?

But its Pearl Abyss who had so much record year and its Pearl Abyss who pays $425 million.

Then who will be incorporated in who and for what. I think they just want our MONEY, and they think there is huge potential in P2W in EVE.

But the good thing is, they might make EVE have a good immersion gameplay such as the combat?
Hmmm, i trust in CCP more then. They have expertise, vouch for that

well your trust is misplaced
you need to trust pearl abyss now

White Wolf’s experience about making RPGs was to be incorporated into CCP also.

BDO is growing rapidly, EvE…well not so much. I highly doubt they spent 425 million for a stagnant MMO, and have no plans to “improve” it.

I’m a little skeptical about this union, PA is wisely a company that produces games that are great but it is also known for these same games are mostly P2W or forcibly turned to betting on loot boxes, as I said their games are usually good then I hope that this attribute alone of making and supporting good games and companies generates excellent results, I am particularly curious to know if the reason for this was financial deficit because until then the CCP seemed to me an independent company and solid enough to keep alone. I wish the whole team the best of lucky as much as possible and that this game continues to be as wonderful and mature as it is.

That’s just standard corporatespeak.

Well… The Plex prices going up all ready. Some pilots start to panic all ready

inb4 $30 outfits in the new “Pearl Shop”. For just $10, a bundle of ‘Sansha’s Tears’ will instantly revive your lost ship with all it’s modules and cargo intact in the nearest station.

You’ve lost me on this one. This was a dull move. A really dull move. The ‘hit MMO Black Desert Online’ is an artistic masterpiece, but it’s a grindfest and a pay-to-win piece of trash. If this game goes anywhere NEAR the direction BDO has gone, I’m 100% done. I literally just uninstalled BDO only a few weeks ago, too.

there is an alternative reason for acquiring a competitor and that is to remove them from the scene
