I know that, but only weirds would want to do that. Open your front door of your home and you will see real ones. This is a joke. XP I look at the thing your talking about as well.
They are a game developer. Every business tries to make money, but I would expect a venture capitalist to care more about milking a game for money without regards for the players than a game company with the goal to make awesome games.
Venture Capitalists will always have more sources of income than a single game developer.
And? We where talking about the motivation to milk a game for money and not about how many sources they have. Why the deflection?
Well, now the 3 years ahve a potentila butcher and not just the demogrpahic failure taking down the game and company.
What probably we won’t get are tips on a new development plan. With the deal going live on October 12th and very likely Hilmar bialing out, plus any other changes to the company direction, the EP can’t forward a development plan -as he might not even be EP under a new direction. There will be months of uncertainty and they aren’t likely to beenfit the game as a whole.
On the other hand, I’ve been thinking about why would someone buy CCP for what equals to 60 years of its profits, and noticed that Pearl Abyss is a publicly owned company whereas CCP is privately owned. And I wonder (since I am not very knowledgable in financials), could PA make CCP a publicly traded company and make big money with it assuming all went well? Would it be feasible, in theory at least?
Because otherwise it’s difficult to understand. In terms of customers, PA has paid about 1,500 $ per customer of CCP, and the customer base is shrinking. 1,500 $ per head is a lot of money…
Maybe their primary interest is not EVE, but something else what CCP has.
It will be hard to find another -spreadsheets in space- type MMO.
They know how to make money, they will take good parts from Eve drop the rest, add some shiny and new and sell it to NEW CUSTOMRES for
To profit you must think out of (sand)box …
Can you imagine EVE players at a shareholder meeting if something doesn’t go according to their ideas? Or shareholders reading about EVE/CCP in other places than their business magazines?
Well, CCP has very advanced cutting edge EVE server technology, which is effectively very advanced… and very EVE. No matter how awesome is the software juice running Tranquility, it’s single threaded and has 15 years worth of dependencies of runnign Tranqulity and nothing else than Tranquility builds.
CCP’s server software is like one of those extremely expensive custom cars some millionaires love -they’re top notch tech, they’re impressive in a way, but nobody else than their owners would buy them.
Hm. I´ve got a sword…
And a bag full of horny ferrets.
Yeah, they will add more HTFU and expand on the thing EVE excels at: PvP. They will not turn it into something completely different just because you have some wet dreams about a farming simulator with perfect safety
Hope you are looking forward to another 15 years of crying on the forums of a game you don’t like because you are to bad to tank your Mammoth FabRod
people are still replying to this Really ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD
FRANKLY WE WILL BE LUCKY IF EVE SURVIVED ANOTHER 2 Years Before PA bought the company it will just be a lot less now
Or maybe they want the IP for something. Or their expertise with VR-tech. Or a piece of “Nova”.
Or their expertise with crazy, autistic spaceshipnerds. Who knows.
Expect WIS to be revisited along with an engine change to facilitate character interaction. The face of EVE will change.
No it isn’t. I’m sure there are still some parts of old code, but if you would actually read what they post about their server development you would know that they started to extract micro services and implement them in go which is designed to take advantage of multicore systems. They would not be able to handle the battles they do today if they still had a single threaded Python process even with TIDI.
Which is going terrifically well.
Crybabies will cry… News at eleven!!
It pains me to agree to a member of CODE., but yes. That would not work that relatively fine as it does now.
