He can’t

Because apparently I’m Major and I cheat (because he said so)

He needs to practice his people skills first… and also needs to face the fact people have views other than his…

Don’t worry @Salvos_Rhoska
I’ll make sure people know what you really are when the time comes

You have no idea what I really am.

What are you then?

It was pretty clear on discord.
You can’t get along with people who have different opinions and ideas because they’re not yours.

Not to mention the whole sexist part…

Better question, is who/whom are you?

I’m @Dom_Arkaral
I’ve said what I needed to (a picture equals 1000 words  )

If you want to discuss on discord I’m there all day

No thanks.

How are you going to run with the CSM if you can’t even communicate with fellow players?

One can’t change overnight… habits stay

Why won’t you talk with me?

I dont have to talk with you to be a CSM, certainly not before I am one.

So you don’t want to talk about your ideas for wars anymore?
Shame lol

Good luck

Not with you, no, whom I already know have nothing formative or constructive to offer.

The thing that I find deeply frustrating, awful and frankly, despicable about politics in the real world is the way that it pretends to be fully representative of the society that it, in effect, controls.

In reality, of course, it’s nothing of the sort. It’s a deeply, deeply flawed system that really only facilitates, represents and supports the election of and the agenda of the wealthy, the powerful and the connected. It’s wide open to abuse and has nothing to do with the very real and tangible needs of minorities, disenfranchised groups or actual people.

In reality, of course, it’s nothing of the sort. It’s a deeply, deeply flawed system that really only facilitates, represents and supports the election of and the agenda of the alliances and corporations that are normally fairly wealthy, powerful, aggressive and connected. It’s wide open to abuse (especially when it comes to the election of the ‘representatives’) and has nothing to do with the very real and tangible needs of unaligned pilots, smaller corporations, miners, minorities and disenfranchised groups.

Until both real life democracy and in-game democracy finds a way to prevent it being dominated by the agenda of the wealthy, the powerful and the connected, both will fail to do anything other than continuing the status quo.

My understanding of the CSM is it’s less, rather not, like electing Congress but more like electing a pool of lobbyists. Ultimately, CCP makes all the decisions except whether or not to stay subscribed.

basically, yes.

The CSM controls nothing, and claims to control nothing. It only claims to be as representative as the players make it. It represents the players’ votes, nothing more. You want it to be more representative, get more people voting.

I wondered how quickly someone would trot this one out, “if only people would vote it would really represent their views”. What a total joke. Writing this demonstrates a lack of understanding of the nature of political power.

Democracy doesn’t actually become any more representative just because people vote.

If the only way to secure victory in an election is to be a candidate who is supported by alliances (the Goons, CODE, et al) and rich, aggressive corporations then the candidates who win will be the ones who are favoured by and who support the agenda of the same alliances and corporations.

In this respect, the elections for the CSM are broadly reflective of how democracy works in real life, corrupt, not representative of diversity and incredibly skewed toward the agenda and the needs of the powerful blocs.

Organizations have organizational power. They can motivate people to vote. If those people don’t vote, the organization doesn’t get its way. If more people from HS voted under the system the CSM uses, they are more likely to have votes in common, which would skew things more toward the candidates they prefer.

If people want to wield organizational power, they need to organize. That’s going to remain true, regardless. That doesn’t mean the elected body doesn’t represent the votes cast. It means there are ways to make votes more impactful. Nothing more.

One vote - One player would go a long way to removing the blob vote, opening seats to less known but possibly more representative players.
CCP won’t introduce this though, as it would be too hard to monitor/police, it would greatly reduce overall votes casting a larger shadow over whether the CSM is really warranted at all and worst of all, it would piss off the blocs [something CCP goes to great lengths not to do].

Hmmm, just off the top of my head [literally and possibly scary];
What if the CSM elections were split into categories;
Nulsec, can have 3 seats (split between nulsec entities)
FW/Lowsec get 3 seats (split between FW groups and dedicated lowsec entities)
Highsec can have 3 seats
Wormholers get 3 seats

Yes it increases the size of the CSM by 2 but would be representative of ALL of Eve.
When nominating a prospective must state which part of space he wishes to represent (verified by player history).

The ballot could be split into the 4 categories and when each player votes he/she gets 1 vote per category.
