I’d argue that nearly every ewar mod should be in the highslots. You should have to sacrifice dps to use these items, not be forced to use armor or somesuch
I’ve always wanted to be the one to do this, even though the emotes from the old forums didn’t make it across to the new forums:
Adapt or die. :pirate:
wouldnt matter on falcon cept it only has 4 highs
Dear CCP,
When will you finally remove WH space?
I can’t believe these ECM changes. Utter disgrace, if I’m flying an indy ship in lowsec and despite all my precautions I get caught, I now have no defence at all. WTF! I mean seriously WTF! x100pointsize.
Grrrr Goon cnuts.
With all due respect, I think the ECM change should only be implemented when it is complete.
As it is proposed, ECM is effectively being nerfed short-term with the promise of it being made more effective or balanced in some future.
All these changes make it safer to be a stupid rorq pilot:
You are less likely to be attacked by interceptors and if you are their damage is lower or they will need to work past bubbles.
At no point will you be unable to have damage going and when the wall of supers comes they are much more dangerous because their fighters can’t be stopped.
WHs will be much slower rolling holes for rorqs and will have a harder time closing the exit behind them when they are done. And the occasional rushdown hic that does come will be slower.
So good work consolidating power at a game design level.
You know this removal of nullification doesn’t apply to all inties, right?
Wait wouldn’t this also mean that jamming fighter squadrons would be less effective than it already is…?
this ecm change isn’t going to do anything, and why no leshak nerf
It is unfortunate that all the tryhard wannabe ‘elite’ pvpers are crying so much over one specific use case of the nullified interceptor issue, and missing the galaxy for the asteroid belt.
But then this happens every time CCP brings balance that doesn’t work in favor of those who want an easy “I win” button. Validates the need for this change around nullification, actually.
Rorquals have nothing to fear from a roving gang of interceptors. You’ll never kill one and unless you’ve got backup coming, you’ll get blapped by drones if you try to stick around too long.
ECM here wasn’t about fighters, it was a recognition of the fact that any situations where you are completely locked down and can do nothing about it is not a mechanic that functions well - there have to be counters. Turning ECM into a 1 v 1 doesn’t mean ECM is useless, it just means there’s a chance for the defender to kill the ECM before he gets killed by everybody else and maybe has a shot at defending himself.
The HIC fix had nothing to do with rorqs or making it harder to roll WHs - this hits them just as hard because they can’t roll holes closed as easily and safely as before, just like it hits WHers.
Take the glasses off.
Found the guy that didn’t read the notes.
no you didn’t
You think a rorq gives two hoots about a swarm of … ceptors? Lel
You guys should only give interdiction nullification to ships with a slow align time and without a covert cloak. HACs spring to mind.
Where’s the balance pass for the insane ISK null-sec continues to print?
Oh wait… GSM.
Use of ECM Burst jammers with their range makes sense only for defensive purposes this change will make them useless and defensive strategy (haulers, miners) obsolete (make them unable to target instead). Targeted ECM is not so widely used that it would warrant the change , only fully specialised ships made any difference (you need 4 mid slot minimum)… not sure that how can Caldari shield tanked ships more tanky . Killing one tactics, for brute force; bad direction.
- It is ineffective to attempt to probe down a fleet of insta-warping interceptors as they bounce safes. Any competent FC will stay on-grid at any given location for perhaps 5-10 seconds, then warp again. Good luck catching that with sub-2s align time. (edit: Remember: sub-2s doesn’t care what direction you’re moving. Fleet lands, starbursts w/props off, and is gone as soon as hostiles are <4au on d-scan.) Oh, and don’t land in your own bubbles.
- Again, any competent FC will have no trouble setting up safes while in motion. First step is just to start bouncing the fleet around a few anomalies of different types. As you go, make bookmarks in warp. Start bouncing from anomalies to bookmarks, bookmarks to anoms, bookmarks to bookmarks. Each warp, make another bookmark. Have a folder just for those, so you can clean them up easy.
- Catching the fleet as it fires is great! If, you know, you can get to them quickly enough when they insta-lock, fire, and fleet-warp off again in less than 2.5s. It’s not like we’re talking about autocannons here.
- There’s nothing wrong with a fleet being able to rapidly move into position. There’s nothing wrong with a fleet being able to move into position free of impediments. However, when you have a fleet that warps faster than any defensive fleet, crossing 3-4 systems to hit targets, and the defensive measures only hinder the defenders… that’s an issue. If you could establish standing-specific bubbles, so defenders weren’t trapped in their own defenses? That might be an option… but that would also cause so many other issues that it’s probably not a good idea to even consider such a thing.
I think if you’re using EC-300s, they can only target the drones, not you.
