[Dev Blog] The second timer in M2-XFE

The correct analogy is more along the lines of gambling. You gamble knowing full well that you will not be reimbursed if you lose. CCPs position has been exceedingly clear from day one of EVE so it is quite impossible to claim that players didn’t know it and were somehow tricked into playing.

Many of us play for these battles. Large strategic battles are the ones that change political landscape of eve and impact the entire game. Everything else is basically ganking in one form or another.

Forgot this one. How exactly did CCP force PASPI to jump in? Do you have any evidence of CCP actually interfering with the war to that degree or are you just blaming everyone except yourself for it?

All of those tools are up to players to use. Yet you are crying here at CCP. Maybe you should cry at PASPI leadership for not spreading out the fights?

Why are you crying on CCP forums then? Go demand that PASPI leadership spreads out the fights. CCP is not running PASPI so they don’t have any control over it.

And how exactly are you going to spread a fight that cannot be spread?

May I request CCP to add a follow-up dev blog to comment if there were any “lessons learned” from the autopsy of the 2nd M2-XFE engagement?.

Cause I understand this was uncharted territory, but now is a good time to “explore” that uncharted area.

Attack several systems at once? You have 3+ chars for each one we have.

That does not change a thing. You still have to commit to a KS, which leads to the majority of the forced being concentrated in that place. Sure, a smaller portion of both sides could attack another KS and maybe destroy it while the rest of the forces are locked up in the bigger battle. But that does not change the reality that most people are locked up in the bigger battle. Weren’t you the guy earlier who was so obsesses with reality? And now you just ignore it? How was this with Hypocrisy Coalition?

Eve has loads of signs in the Eula saying don’t massive fleet fight or come crying to us when you break the server.

And Fleets do have a cap limit dumb dumbs, maybe not exceed it next time by 10x fold.

If you attack 10 keepstars at the same time we can either pick to defend 1 of them with our full numbers or spread out to 10 of them with far smaller numbers. Same for you. You can take your 3+ numerical advantage and spread out on all 10 of them.

How is CCP doing anything to prevent that? Other than not doing your work for you? I guess that would be only acceptable approach for whiners united. CCP deleting imperium and letting you take credit for it on reddit circle jerk.

PAPI does not have 3+capital fc’s DAT IS WHYZ. They don’t even have one competent capital FC it would appear.

Even if true it’s hard to blame CCP for that. I’m pretty sure that NC. or PL could find someone at least mildly competent. They’ve been around and should know how to handle server performance. Now that I think about it, so should Vily and PGL. Maybe Mittens is correct. They let their ego get better of them. Not easy when you build your entire coalition on lies and koolaid.

That’s not how Keepstar fights work. At all. Out of necessity they coalesce into a single place all the time because that’s where the action is. All you do with attacking 10 Keepstars is to make the experience even worse because everyone waits for the other side to make the first move and then drop on that, which in turn makes the servers buckle under the load of people trying to join the system. It has exactly the same outcome. Another good advice? Or are you just full of ignorance towards reality?

That is exactly what happened. Vily done goofed up. It is not the end of the war unless he makes several more goofs in the coming days, weeks.

This war is fairly meaningless anyway, a victory or loss is not going to change the imperium in any significant way. The war has changed it but soon as the war stops it’ll be back to normal.

People would rather crab under imperium umbrella than Papi’s. If you China speak and wanna crab go to Frat.

PAPI’ve already done that. We’ve taken out everything but the last two constellations while goons retreated over and over.

Finally they were penned into their last two systems with all their fleets.

So we either go in and fight them there or leave them as a constant threat.

Obviously PAPI chose to go in - and it’s now clear that that isn’t a viable tactic.

So now what? We do a boring month-long siege camping goons into their last two systems with no-one having much fun?

They already started doing stuff like this with the ihub/toaster mechanic - where you have to fight over the whole constellation not one system.

Suppose keepstars had reinforcement nodes in other systems that could be destroyed to weaken the keepstar…

…stuff like that might help.

less the fluff and spin

In a nutshell, straight from the horse’s mouth:

“This battle did not unfold the way anyone expected it to. A large proportion of the attacking side experienced in-game issues, which resulted in devastating losses for them. As pilots attempted to jump from one heavily loaded to another, they experienced odd and unresponsive game behavior; Things like ships disappearing. As per our usual policy Customer Support won’t be reimbursing any losses or moving players between systems.”

Who does their PR?
Do they honestly think that this response will appease affected players or entice new ones?

It has worked time and again in the past. Just look at Axhind.

How kind of you to send them to T5.

Of course the loss of a titan is a pretty expensive way to achieve that  Most expensive taxi service in history.

When the choice is “don’t play the game” or “lose a titan”… well that’s not exactly going to make for a good fun gameplay experience is it?

And I’m sure there will be an extraction plan and various fleets forming up, similar to the one that got me out. The extraction will happen, but you can be sure that a lot of players are going to be left unhappy with the way this went down.

Enjoy your win. We win some, we lose some. It’s not the end of the world… or the war.

We are very friendly people. Nobody is forcing those players not to play. Next time maybe they should have competent leadership that will not let them get stranded in a camped system. On the other hand, it is a very long and very proud tradition among our enemies to get their supers trapped.

Only difference is that this time there will be no nice Mittens that will pull us away from you like the last time around.

A lot of people gamble despite not getting reimbursed when they lose. Doesn’t seem to be that big of an issue. Everyone knows that huge battles are unstable and have to be dealt with carefully instead of going full retard. You never go full retard.
