Any news on a release date yet? Also, with 64bit being released does this also mean that server side can be moved over to 64bit which would corolate to better server performance during large scale battles?

The test server already has the 64bit client available.

Never done it myself, so I canā€™t be of any assistance.
Perhaps a friendly ISD or someone with knowledge can share the process.

How can someone get on the beta of the 64bit client?

As I noticed above about AMD tests for DirectX utilization of multi-core CPUs, the Intel have worse multithread computation distribution with better computation power per Core/Thread while the AMD it does vice versa. The core CPU commands are designed differently to split a task between Cores and Threads. Itā€™s like to open a big file in synchronized stream from own OS or to download it from different sources by using Torrent protocol (initialization and checks are required). Therefore, the current Intel CPUs have better DirectX11 implementation for games (Gaming PC builds), while AMD CPUs have better performance when multiple applications work in parallel. I noticed it even in a simple scenario while archiving few big files and YouTube video is rendered at the same time.

There is another sufficient difference between two cores. Mainly all AMD Athlon, Phenon and FX series (some Ryzen) are soldered, while the modern i3, i5 and i7 Intel CPU crystals use a synthetic thermal grease. Soldered CPUs have better overclocking potency at one hand and longer lifetime on the other hand. The thermal grease have the ability to dry out and crack over time, which adversely affects their performance over time, especially in overclocking mode. Until theyā€™ll be delidded (a risky operation).

Moreover, most Intel cores have integrated graphics, which requires addition 2 power supply phases as usually. It makes them and their Motherboard a bit more expensive at the same performance. We donā€™t need an integrated graphic module for gaming PC.

But, but, with incoming DirectX 12 (AMD will be used more effective in games) and soldered i9 CPUs (as they are going to be), both AMD and Intel cores can be equally good and will differ from model to model.

About AMD FX 8300

To use this core in overclocking mode and unleash its 100% potency, you need a good overclocking Motherboard and good cooling system. A good OC Motherboard is one with at least 6 power supply phases, covered with radiators, and a 8-pin power supply connector (especially if your CPUā€™s TPD is over 95W). Like this

If you donā€™t like to push the ā€˜clockā€™ to 4.2 GHz or above, but only to 3.6-3.8GHz, then a 4-pin power supply cable should be enough on Mobo.

I am thinking of getting a AMD FX-8350 as my motherboard is a AM3+ Socket

AM3+ Socket isnā€™t a condition that the CPU will run on it. What is your Motherboard model?

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 v1 with the latest bios update, it says it AM3+ ready board

I have seen a lot of articles on the net that i can overclock the AMD chip with the board, but i donā€™t plan to do that just yet.

Ok. Itā€™s a good motherboard for AMD FX 8350 with great improvement potency with CrossFire/SLI, SATA-3 SSD, PCIEX4 SSD, DDR3-2000 32GB RAM.

Just keep in mind, that AMD FX 8350 and FX 8320 are just overclocked variants of FX 8300 by default (factory overclocking at higher price). It will run on 4GHz by default with the ability to easily upgrade it to 4.2GHz or 4.5GHz, under very good cooling system. To run that CPU on your GA-990FXA, you need a proper system Power Supply 700W and very good cooler like DEEPCOOL Gammaxx 40, which are minimal requirements. Use system coolers also: front and rear.

Asus M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 can support this processor by documentation, on papper, but this motherbard is a bad one for this purpose. The 4-pin power connector ATX12V or power phase module VRM (near R68) will burn relatively fast. IDK which component will burn faster - the connector or the module (depends by MOSFET overload system quality). For example, as shown on image below, because itā€™s ASUS, the motherboard has a 3+1 power phase mode for VRMs - 3 power phases are for CPU and 1 for RAM and other modules (has lower load). Letā€™s say that CPU works on its current power of 110W (from 125W) at 4GHz clock. Therefore, each VRM (R68) module will be on load of 110/3 = 36.7W without any cooling system! At 4GHz clock rate, the CPU will run like under 1.38 V. So, the amperage through the 4-pin connector will be 110 W/12 V = 9.166 A, while through each VRM - 36.7 W/1.38 V = 26.5A roughly calculated! The more VRMs are available, the less power will consumed by each of them. We set the Core Voltage (vCore) for each VRM module in BIOS, by dictating how much amperage should consume each of them and CPU entirely.

One of the best motherboard, from the list, for FX 8350 is MSI 970 GAMING, with 8-pin ATX12V power connector and 6 + 2 VRM power phases (6 for CPU).

Thanks for the advice :slight_smile: I want to also upgrade my video card next seeing i only have a Msi 760 at the moment so that will be next on the list.

greetings all just thought I heard doom bells ringing. When the 64 bit upgrade was forecast so would appreciate it greatly if eve dev would give me a heads up on there best suggestion for the next laptop for me to purchase to run this excellent game as I play nothing else and donā€™t intend to ever stop playing or paying my subscription cheers and obviously it needs to be able to run the game well thanks Othello Nightstar

Hi! In picking up a laptop, Iā€™d just keep in mind our recommended specifications. A system that meets those will be pretty good for a long time. (Note that you can get by with less powerful hardware than our recommended spec, so donā€™t feel bad if you need to compromise on specs to save some money.)

Heh, oh Iā€™m sure it will be iterated on ā€˜soonā€™ā€¦ just like ECM! Iā€™m sure you can imagine my surprise upon returning to the game after a ~2yr break, and the new map is still in betaā€¦ I guess some things you just canā€™t test enough.
