Devblog: EVE 64-bit & DirectX 12

Can I haz that FoxCat picture as wallpaper for me desktop please?
Its so -aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww-

Has anybody any experience if and how good DirectX 12 is currently supported by WINE on Linux? Is it better / faster than DirectX 11?

So… When is the 64 bit client going to be released? Any ETA? And will the launcher be 64 bit as well?

I run two XFX Radeon 390 Blacks in crossfire mode in fixed window mode on two monitors. Full screen worked fine except it captured the mouse and anytime I clicked on either monitor the opposite would minimize EVE. Initially fixed window didn’t work at all (as expected) so I launched both clients then kept rapidly switching from full screen to fixed window until my computer crashed. rebooted and it works like a charm for months now. SLI/Crossfire in fixed window on multiple monitors with two identical gpu’s is a great way to keep older less powerful cards viable in game. The performance boost for more powerful cards was much better than the many reviews out there had led me to believe it would be, the results for me were amazing. Radeons run very hot typically, single gpu with EVE at max settings I ran for hours at a time at 185f (coffee warmer on blowhole) but now they both run at minimal temperatures and share the load nicely.

You rang?

Please, make a slow transition to DirectX 11 requirements!

Just because I have a “very good” DirectX 9 graphic card!

My Graphic Card is old, but it is a 256bit one with GDDR5.

You could leave the option “use directx 9” for a while after the transition!

Thanks!

  • During the game the screen freezes and I have to log in again.
  • Problem started over 2 days ago (19.09.19)
  • Never before problems!
  • Missions + Combat sites fly impossible
  • a complete new installation does not help
  • 64 bit version (Macbook Pro)

Drool :stuck_out_tongue:

When can we expect DX 12 to be implemented? This year?

Been saving a looong time for new rig with updated hardware. My Old EVGA 690 workhourse did a great job for many a year.
looking forward to this advancement in Eve.

You had me there for a moment! I thought you were serious. We would be lucky to see it this time next year, if at all!

It’s been in the talks for a long time now, I was thinking it would be done by now along with the 64-bit launch. Either way, it’s probably not a big deal, at least for most gamers, as the DX12 implementation in a lot of games have only made performance suffer while very few graphical improvements have been achieved.
