Exploration changes are a bad idea please don’t do this ccp, come on, listen before it’s too late.
What was the specific argument for the exploration changes?
Was it too hard for people to fly out and find them or what? So now they should just be served on a platter? Together with this being even more free intel, I really don’t understand why.
Apart from that, there does not seem to be much of a functional difference from the old agency and this new one. Honestly, seems like a waste of dev time to me.
Now I have to click on the bookmark all the time to get to the Agent Finder. Great.
And that person still has not removed the listing of signatures and anomalies in other systems, which is a huge blow to exploration and huge help to botting and keeping inattentive users who rely on NEAR2 safer than before. Go CCP!
We are aware of the implications of this change and will monitor the effect on New Eden and the Exploration career, with the possibility of balancing and tweaking in the future.
Stop these lies! You are intentionally not not aware of these things, otherwise you would not implement such an outright bovine waste. You would not even think about it because it adds nothing positive to EVE and only takes positive things away from EVE.
The Escalations page will only be available when an Escalation is triggered. When such an event occurs,
This is another annoying thing: When I open the old Agency or the old Journal after I got an escalation, I loaded it with the Escalations immediately visible to me and could immediately see what’s what. Now I have to do additional clicks to figure and be distracted from other things for more time than it would be necessary. Great job!
we’re flipping the user journey on its head; instead of starting at a results page filled with content in your area, you will begin at a landing page that asks you what kind of content you are interested in trying.
Great, but I do not need that. If you need a hit on your head all the time, that is great. Go you. But I do not need that. I want the results without additional work and distraction. Again it goes to show that you are not aware of anything you do. Good job.
Furthermore: It is wonderful that you release this Dev Blog virtually on the evening before this goes live and you ignored most, if not all the feedback especially in regards to the most controversial aspects. This is not transparency. You used that word in this Dev Blog but I do not think you understand the meaning of it.
“I’m bewildered”, said no one ever.
CCP: We feel that this increased transparency will encourage bewildered players
Community: We are bewildered by this change.
Self fulfilling change. GG CCP. You metaplayed us all.
Terrible change, but GG to the devs that worked on this.
As someone nicely pointed out on reddit.
Cosmic Signatures
In the Cosmic Signatures page, we will be making a big change to how Capsuleers will be exploring New Eden. The main change here is the visibility of the number of available signatures in all systems. For the system you are currently in, you will be able to view the signature IDs as normal. We are aware of the implications of this change and will monitor the effect on New Eden and the Exploration career, with the possibility of balancing and tweaking in the future.
And this from Jestertrek’s AMA.
What was or is in your opinion the biggest lie CCP told the playerbase?
“This will be iterated upon.”
Can’t count the number of times CSM 8 was told that. Five years later, literally nothing we were told this about has been iterated upon.
Also… Is this another example of a CCP dev just ignoring all the feedback and stubbornly implementing a change cause of their personal beliefs?
There has been an overwhelming negative feedback to the exploration changes, especially exposing the signatures like that.
I’m just sitting here with “Why?”.
CCP Please dont be dumb and ignore the players who actually playing the game.
The exploration change is a terrible idea. It will have consequences from the “explorers” themselves to a drop in salvage prices and potentially less manufacturing profit from more competition and players driving down prices of goods.
Isk sink or faucet? Seems like another faucet to me.
O I’m going to enjoy hunting all the noob’s running to the exploration sites wooo, new players will be quitting by the dozen, jokes but seriously new players are going to be the new npc’s while the vets farm the hell out of them.
The only reason why the new players have a chance to get a sig is becuase the vets don’t know its there yet.
Most of the Agency updates seem helpful but I agree showing Signatures and Anomalies in the agency window is a bad idea.
I’m a newish player and I’ve always really liked exploration mostly because it is a good ISK generator for a solo player without a lot of SP or ISK. Not everyone wants to fly around systems looking for one that has a lot of untouched signatures. I feel like I earn my loot because I’m taking the time to find it.
I’m very worried that now that everyone just gets to see which systems have lots of signatures I’m going to fly to a system only to find it filled with a bunch of other people doing the same thing, or worse, a bunch of veteran players and gangs in system hunting down exploration frigates!
I hope that this doesn’t ruin exploration for me.
Releasing devblog about changes hours before patch, shows that CCP don’t give a f*** about regular players feedback. So if they don’t care about regular joes maybe they listen to CSM member (it’s dumb to think that I know). Brisc was really active on forums, I would ask him but after what they do to him I don’t think he care. I’m really tired of explaning stupid, dumb developers, that features like this strips EvE from what was great in it. I was active in times of loot spew, now I don’t care so much. There are other games on market.
This change has been on sisi for about a month btw people have been talking about it for awhile.
This has also been happening for a very long time where citadels kills pvp with tether + gun’s point/neut web, killing combat inti’s with bad changes to it with nothing in return.
And during all this time, there still haven’t been a specific and compelling argument for this change from CCP.
Sounds like stubbornness to me.
Sisi? When they change anything because feedback from there? I was waiting for devblog to discuss why they want to introduce change nobody wanted? Now I got it, day befofe patch…
Was about to say the same thing. Now they can easily see incoming wormholes without even having to probe. No wonder the CSM probably had no issue with this.
I strongly urge CCP to reconsider this change for exploration, for several reasons.
Highsec exploration is overcrowded: I have noticed over the past month that my attempts at finding sites have been stymied by intense competition, typically from an absurd amount of 5-30 day old Gila pilots, operating at any hour I attempt to be active. On top of that the amount of actual loot I (and I’m guessing, these Gilas) receive has gone from “regular enough to keep me eager to continue exploring” to “Wait, I thought I uninstalled Anthem; what’s going on?” within the last week- as I’ve received nothing but long range faction ammo, an overseer box and modules that are generally speaking worth less than the minerals they reprocess into. This new change will only exacerbate this issue as the absurd horde of Gilas will now have a tool that tells them where they should most focus their efforts.
This does not actually benefit explorers. It benefits people who want to kill explorers. While this isn’t necessarily bad, because that’s Content and etc., considering the overall state of exploration it leaves people who enjoy it and don’t want it to be one-sided “oh well, I lost another ship again” with nothing to show for it with absolutely zero options that aren’t “join a megabloc and farm sites in nullsec”; right now I feel I could confidently pull some value out of lowsec exploration because the presence of sites isn’t actually known until you go into a system. In future, attempting to do exploration in lowsec is, functionally, a guarantee to lose assets with still less guaranteed profit than doing the same in null.
This does not help new players; the only group that benefits are the “supercarrier turbokrab nullbear” demographic.
Edit: I just want to clarify: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with losing ships. That’s an integral part of this game. The problem is when the risk of losing a ship is so overwhelmingly likely that the potential pittance of ISK you could squeeze out of a site you found doesn’t actually make it worth trying. Despite everything right now, we’re merely close to that. It isn’t actually here yet. But tomorrow, it will be.
And then you listen to @CCP_Hellmar’s AMA where he talks about shaking EVE up and how it needs to be more dangerous as well as all the other talk from other CCP devs and wonder: Where do you get these substances that make you so disjointed with reality. I want them, too.
Amarr ship in Minmatar hangar ?
It is almost as if CCP have split personalities. You listen to stuff like the below clip.

It seems almost as if Hilmar understands that too much control and comfort is bad for eve, then on the flipside, they implement stuff like these exploration changes.
