Devblog: Invasion Tournament Series

Dude, this is something we’ve been planning as part of the World Tour since last year. It’s on site content for a global series of events, and hopefully entertaining stream content. What do you mean by “so little, so late?”

People are just whinging the original AT is being pushed to the sidelines this year. Anything organised by CCP that wasn’t “the AT” would not have gained support from some people.

You’re being intentionally obtuse right? Letting somebody set up an appropriate control scheme in a video game isn’t even remotely close to the problems with measured performance differences of tools used by paralympians. I’m not treating anyone like a victim by pointing out the initial iteration of the tournament could make it difficult for a number of users, perhaps instead of clutching for a straw man just admit that you’re wrong and move on with life.

Nailed it!

The fish won the exam… Don’t ask the monkey how, but there was nothing that said the elephant couldn’t launch him to the top. hahaha, boxes and lines and all that right

I think it’s a badass idea  7 local on site world tournaments. That’s a ton of logistics work! Plus with the offer in the Dev blog that CCP has allocated resources, prizes, funding, extra help, advertisement, etc for content creation IN GAME created by players it’s more than fair to say that “for all of the folks upset about this thing or that thing” that they could easily organize some in-game tournaments and essentially have nothing to cry about since they can set their own rules (overview settings for instance.)

Ok, gotcha, as far as the rest of it, self explanatory.

The default set-up is fine for the NPE because they need to know those things are there. But it is terrible for actual PvP. Please let people change the overview and short-cut keys. One of the first things any Eve corporation tells its newbros is how to un-**** their overview.

If the competitor can’t get it to their liking before the match starts, sucks to be them.

Also, flagships in Eve Amsterdam?

hmmm… conflicted thoughts about this… i just dont see what this is trying to achieve.

Vegas will be titan/fax pairs. >.>

Dude, you guys have lost site of what this game is all about. You’ve sold your souls to keep your jobs.

  • Are you at liberty to tell us what type of machines everyone will be playing with and will they be the same machines at every single physical event?

  • Can you bring your own keyboard and mouse?

Cheers,

I asked earlier but my post must have gotten lost

Perhaps you should then begin a betting pool. Pick squares for attendance at each physical location. Since it’s a huge waste of time, effort, non-competitive not newsworthy, and only a tiny player pool will be involved you seem to already have a leg up on the competition in-re to the demographics per each location. You could make trillions on this with your uncanny ability to predict the future. Care to share some lotto numbers while you’re at it, or are you only peddling natron?

We will have a set of pre-fitted ships that players can select from for each event. These will be made public 48 hours before the start of the event. For the Grand Finals, we give teams time to customize the fitting for the ships that are playable in the tournament.

Sorry for the confusion, seems like our wording was a bit off there. To reiterate: the default overview does not mean the overview you get when starting the game for the first time. We are more than happy to load a more popular PvP overview and consider it as ‘default’ for the whole tournament.

We look at each tournament as a part of the Invasion Tournament Series and do not plan to be making any huge changes to the rules.

We want to have room to change things like penalties, fitting restrictions, maximum number of players or other sections that can improve the experience without altering the overall structure or the format of the competition.

Correct.

That is fantastic news that I’m sure will be well received by many

Seriously though, while I’ve got your attention, I think a new and improved default overview taking into account what’s in the popular player made ones would be a smart move for player retention and QOL

1 - You are not at liberty to tell us beforehand what type of machines we will be using and their specs? If so where can we find information on the machines being used?
2 - We can or cannot bring our own keyboard and mouse?

Thank you for your last reply but you did not address these two questions! (Sorry - To be fair I just realized which post you replied to and it was my original post, not the post asking those two above questions ;-( My bad)

Cheers,
