Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

Why are capitals allowed to get insurance? Wouldn’t people consider using something else, if the risk of losing a capital would be losing it’s total value? Not to mention the insurance company, they will go bankrupt!

Also, new ships? I can’t wait!

Removing insurance completely would mostly hurt dread bombs, something that really don’t need more nerfs right now

I love this balance pass.
Definitely a step in the right direction for the most part. But nerfing the amount of excavators that a rorqual can save if they are being dropped on top of a nerf to yield and tank is going to make it unviable for everyone who isn’t in large coalitions who can actively save rorqs from hot drops.

I understand they shouldn’t necessarily be able to save themselves but these nerfs are going to make it harder for the poorer people/alliances to compete with the richer people/alliances. Small steps are preferable when making wide reaching nerfs as you can always keep going, it’s harder to take a step backwards and maintain face.

You could make the same argument for all insurance on every ship. Also, insurance helps keep the economy going without relying on mass amounts of ratting. If there was no insurance, the total isk would rely nearly entirely on the amount of ratting/missions run.

Is there any hope of seeing a boson nerf, oh and what about having a look at medium projectiles, cause at the moment they are rather crap, and making minmatar ships sub-par.

Oh, love the other stuff tho.

Suitonia said Boson changes are still on the table for future discussion.

Now that ship incoming rep % received is a ship stat, does that mean we may be able to alter this with a ship or module in the future :]?

this isn’t a great change, the real best way to close off isk faucets isn’t nerfing the yield or ticks of real players but to strike at RMT and botting which will pull simply stupid amounts of isk over time. a good example of a change is nerfing the tank and amount able save on a rorq which will make bot popping easier. a bad example is a simple yield nerf.

The whole point of this game for a lot of us that are newer, is the what we feel is end game content, Rorquals and Carriers, Capital ships! And you guys keep nerfing them for what? so people can enjoy killing them? make isk generation harder? Drive Plex sales? I already feel like its insanely hard to find things that allow me to make enough vs losing ships in pvp. Pretty disappointed in CCP right now.

Parca, Something tells me you have absolutely no idea how the economy works nor do you understand that ISK generation is not “crippled”

RMT is bad certainly
but it is not an isk faucet

There are plenty of ships in the game, over 50% infact, that you can fly without needing to make hundred+ millions of ISK an hour.

I notice that there is a massive influx of characters that have never posted before that now show up to the forums to complain about this. I take that as a sign that this is actually a very good list of changes indeed.

Maybe time to shine for hull reps as side effect from CCP nerf to standart reps? lmao

You know if there has been any talk of fixing medium projectiles?

In 90% of cases subcap logi does not hit the rep amounts necessary for them to actually be significantly nerfed by this change

once upon a time, we used to moan about capital guns killing subcaps. this never got fixed, and high angles got added. people are mad about capitals trashing subcapitals, so high angle guns get a look, but I feel like you could just delete high angle guns since they add nothing of value to the game, and there’d still be a huge problem with capital turret damage vs subs. I think it’s an issue of just how much it’s possible to web/paint a target generally - you can’t give a ship 90 trillion dps but balance it by giving it low application, because webs, even normal 60% webs, are really mad powerful and make all your -5% capital blaster tracking nerfs or whatever it was completely meaningless.
long range medium guns are very strong since that insane +33% dps buff years ago that broke everything, so I don’t know why they’d be getting a buff. the abaddon damage buff seems a bit strange to me. it’s an ok ship, only “bad” because of all the overpowered things in game i.e. pirate ships and capitals. it’s not bottom of the barrel for T1 battleships, and it has good bonuses already.
vexor navy issue and gila change to me seems like trying to fix drones without fixing drones. they need missile/fighter application and proper range constraints and a bunch of other stuff. stuff like this isn’t a good alternative. drones will continue to be heinously busted in certain situations until this happens.
ferox changes are similar in a way to that. it’s overpowered because of long range medium guns being op, and because of range bonuses also being op. it’s not overly fast, or agile or small, but for some reason all those stats are being messed with instead of what’s actually up with it.
those rorqual changes should’ve included removal of all the logistics bonuses and panic, and heavily cutting down on or removing their drone power, and ending the mobile depot excavator meme completely. I’d also like to see them either be providing bonuses or mining, not both.
for carriers I’d probably remove the nsa since it breaks game fundamentals of what ships can catch/escape what ships and gives people like stitch silly ideas about 400 base scan res battleships being acceptable. if you want balanced carriers you need to pull your fingers out and not have things like thousands km range and 10km/s fighters (that you can abandon but still teleport back to you), and the instant and the unstoppable jumping and cynoing that underpins everything horrible and unskillful about caps.
I don’t have much faith in the RR thing having much effect, but it’s interesting enough. I know there was a logi range nerf ages ago but it wasn’t very big. making all logi into ~0 optimal, falloff-based modules would be nice so people have to invest some brainpower into their positioning

/sperg :^)

Reminds me of a Korean game developer who thought removing currency from a game would lower prices for mods.

CCP: You funny.
