Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

An Orca is 700 mil a rorqual is 8-10 bil what are you comparing?

I’m not comparing the Orca and Rorqual, I’m stating they are both intended to be force multipliers for mining fleets not stand along miners.

yes, but rorq in simple boosting fit cost only about 2.5bil increasing each covetor yeald at least for 50% and still mining something about same covetor with small mining drones

Well, then I say this. As a member of Bastion and the overarching Imperium, while goons may complain a bit about the changes, we still have the largest and most frequent fleets in the game. Lets go kill some capitals. Gentlemen, start your stealth bombers!

excited about ramping up killboards.

Then make a value comparison, and leave the mining part. An Orca boosts for around 45% max skill compared to the 59% of the Rorq and has a similar cargohold . The only benefit from a Rorqual is the compression. So thinking the way you are, the Rorqual should cost around 20% more for the boost and another x% for the compression value. Any way you put it you can’t get to a 4-5 billion hull to worth those bonuses(leaving the drones aside). The Rorqual alone with t2/improved drones is making less than a Hulk and similar to an Orca. The difference in VALUE comes from the enormous cost of the drone set which are easiest to lose by far, thus the risk vs reward we are talking about.

Paying more in eve generally tends to have diminishing returns, rarely will paying 2x as much get you something 2x better

The price of convenience of not running 5 accounts with covetors and having more afk time due to huge ore hold and ability to compress that ore.

risk reward equation is not linear: twice the price does not mean it should be twice as good.

It just became more effective at its intended role - supporting mining fleet!

Good job ccp

A VNI with a fit costs… what… 70 mil?

A super costs 20 billion. Did you get 28 times higher ticks when ratting in a Super as compared to a VNI?

That argument you, and many before you, just brought forward is just plain stupid.

If we pay monthly to get the skill points to fly this stuff or inject, and they take away from it, they are chopping our investment. Might as well be stealing money from us. Cause that’s what this is, stealing money from the players.

Do you feel that other players are stealing money from you as well, when your ship gets blown up?

This has always been interesting to me, logically speaking wormholes should have the best moon ore, since it is the hardest to move and riskiest to mine.

At least you have the option to inject/extract. Years ago players would have spent years of time and subscription costs on this kind of thing. You’ll be fine.

Wrong, it’s a very valid argument and keeps needing to be brought up. A capital investment is a huge isk sink and time investment, there needs to be supporting rewards for doing so.

WH moon mining got the complete shaft, because the NS lobbying CSM at the time wanted the richest to be restrained to NS safe crabbing.

If I remember correctly, moon mining in WHs wasn’t suppose to be included at all at first.

And yet I still spent years getting there, nothing has changed it’s still time and money. Our time and money that’s being screwed with.

No, this is the risk part, which can happen at any moment. Hence the risk vs reward needs to be there.

There are still supporting rewards for it.

It’s a nerf. They didn’t remove the gameplay, the ships or their overall prowess relative to other ships and ISK making potential.

NS ratting is still the best PvE ISK/hour in the game, with the sole exception of C5/C6 ratting.

NS mining with a Rorqual is still the best mining in the game (by a far margin).

It’s been -balanced-, because it was horrendously overpowered to the point where it had a huge detrimental effect on the overall gameplay and in game economics.

Anyone who says afk and rorq doesnt fly a rorq. You have to constantly pay attention.

Quoted for relevance. Very good idea, make it one Rorq per belt with core enabled … but I’m pretty sure it will never be considered (guess why  ).
