Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

I would hope that the stacking for armor and shield reps are separate from each other, CCP really needs to give us the math and more details

I like how you think there’s a difference between those groups. He’s exactly right: get in the standing defense fleet, tell people what’s going on, and if an inhib is anchoring, light your cyno so they’ve got 10m to get supers and faxes jumping in.

Don’t have a standing defense fleet? Get one. It’s like anything else in EVE: if you want to do it, do it right… or get blown up.

To make them require a little attention, so botters get hit more than real players.

It is not about you (alliance) but about changes. I don’t doubt that big boys will adapt like they always did in past.

However these changes look like they are intended to be this.

They did just nerf AFK VNIs.

and lest be really clear… if you have the rorq on field and the core active you are already a fixed target for several minutes. the panic button assures that you will be there longer, but generally that means more time for your enemies to cyno in, your friends are usually already there. (again, small coprs / alliances )
with this change you get to sacrifice 2 excavators if you lose the already fat target rorq. It is not clear who that is intended to help other than to deter people putting mining rorqs on the field at all. This isn’t dr Peabody and the wayback machine, we cant go back to a non mining rorq unless CCP wants to eliminated excavators altogether and reimburse us for them and the skill training required to use them.

PVPers play the game for PVP. There’s nothing they like better than a roaming gang delivering PVP to their front door, so of course they’ll help miners if the miners communicate.

What I suspect is that there are a lot of groups out there who hardly have any PVPers in their ranks anymore, because PVP has been so dead for so long. There are also a few groups who rely completely on supers and FAX for defense. Anyone can fly those and do well, even people who loathe PVP can press “jump to cyno” and launch some fighters and be perfectly safe doing it. It’s going to be interesting to see if CCP makes any changes here, or if having a supercap umbrella populated with alts will always be enough to keep your space safe.

Thinking that is also their main reason for the Gila drone hp nerf; active players will tend to monitor and recall/ relaunch new pair as warranted. Bots will tend to lose a far higher number, raising the overhead cost to bot significantly.

News flash: The Rorqual is still more effective at mining than anything else.

And then it got repurposed along the way with the introduction of excavators and removal of things like ‘you need a blueprint to compress’.

Correct, so complaining about their efficiency in mining compared to intended actual mining ships is a bit silly.

While we’re at it, can be give the Typhoon some decent drone bonuses, since the model is a hangar with guns now?

I mean, if you’re gonna have us flying a damned Battlestar, let us fly a Battlestar!

More like the Rorq getting a throughput of about twice that of the boosted hulk, instead of 3-5x.

That would be dope. It’s been my favorite ship ever since the redesign.

Yeah, except that’s not the ‘natural cycle’. A ‘natural cycle’ would have more consistently coming into existence than getting blown up… which leads us to where we are.

They’re doing that, too.

It may not look like much, but that removal of the speed bonus means more drones get killed by rats, and VNIs get hit harder. Combined, that’ll hit the botters pretty well.

Did you read the bit in the devblog where it talks about exactly that tactic? I’m guessing no.

I’m not sold on the math behind it, because that graph doesn’t say what they claim it says… but they address it.

So would literally any other changes you can think of.

Seriously. Propose a change, I’ll demonstrate how it would’ve been taken as benefiting large alliances more, and us more than anyone else.

Well, I’m not complaining about these changes, I’m pointing out to you that as of the moon mining overhaul, Rorquals are ‘actual mining ships’. And the best ones in the game.

It does actually if you read it correctly. The next fax after the subcaps picks up where the line left off as if the subcaps were not even there. I think the way they presented the data makes its a little confusing but if look at what that line represents you will see.

As for the rorq changes though. As a rorq pilot from the ancient days of “compressing via blueprint inside a pos boosting the entire system” days…I am not too unhappy with the lowering if yield and have always thought it unnatural for the rorq to mine more then multiple boosted hulks. The tank changes and drone size I am not sure I am happy with but I will adjust. Eve is about overcoming adversity and this makes the rorqual require even even more vigilance.

They been mining ship longer then moon mining has been around…but should they be? I think they should mind some, and a lot more then say an orca but maybe not as much as multiple boosted hulks. This ship was suppose to be a support ship but people have been using them to replace exhumers and we wonder why we have such a problem.

Moon mining is one of the things we generally dont even use rorqs for since moons on 1-2 week pulls dont normally have enough mass to make a sieging a rorq worth while.

We do however park them in ore anoms and sometimes in ice belts where we dont have the convenience of a structure near by for defense but have what rocks large enough to keep a rorq busy for multiple siege cycles

may be because CCP gave them extra-large mining drones and create mining-dreadnought? after all if we have extra large ships for damage and logistic - why we shouldnt have same for mining?
