Devblog: Vexor Navy Issue and Alpha Clone Drone Skill Changes

They should make it an option for those who don’t want to/can’t upgrade to omega be able to get those SP back. that would solve this right?

also on a different note, do we have similar avatars XD

Even though I think there is a bigger underlying issue with the drone & anomaly mechanics in general, which have been obvious for the past years, it’s a good step in the right direction to decrease efficiency of the VNI for those activities, while retaining an interesting PVP role.

For the Alpha guys I hope that CCP will find a fair solution to extract those skills.

I’m kinda hoping they do end up allowing people to re-allocate those skill points as I’m already past the 5m sp you can obtain for free. I bought 2 months worth of omega and bought a bit of plex to use towards large skill injectors and trained all into alpha skills. If I was training into omega skills that’s whatever and that’s my loss as I would already be well aware I would not have access to those skills out of omega status. I won’t have the luxury to buy more omega in the next month or 2 since I’ll be going to school and as such myself and probably many others will now be locked out of the skills that were trained for with the intent of being able to use them whenever.

As a new player(started EVE this time last year) who is using VNI exclusively for missions and ratting I was sceptical about any changes whatsoever. Red most of the comments and still can’t come to an conclusion on the topic. For sure will try to adjust my fit and try stick to the VNI for PVE. But CCP is more likely to force me to use other ships (not really exited about that) than to open new options. As a drone boat in ideal scenario I would’ve loved to see VNI keep that role and not become something else. If I want to shoot guns I will get something that is good with them. I have mixed feelings about the armor rep stuff. OK it will make me (force me) be more active while ratting, but being semi-afk was good for my IRL activities. Only time will tell if VNI will still be my ship of choice for pve.

Whining about a free service? Fair enough, if you were only Alpha and never paid we can debate but even then I would say it would be fair to give them the points back since you work with a 5M SP cap. Or CCP should advertise saying 5M SP cap except for a few players which have a 4,5M SP cap.

Second, the people who paid for services (not even to get there faster but to get there at all, remember the 5M SP cap) didn’t gamble. They paid for a service, which at that point they were, rightfully, under the impression they could use indefinitely.
If you want to take that away, that’s one point and we can debate about the changes, but the treatment of ‘paying’/paying costumers by CCP is just wrong. And mark my words they’ll probably revert this decision by giving the SP back.

Or just make vni omega indeed

Yes it would be nice but changing a few numbers in a database vs reworking more in-depth mechanics…

Having just read the article regarding the forthcoming changes, I can’t help but feel that the general playing populace is about to be punished once again because you can’t think of any other way to actually remove botters.
So, these changes will make botters choose another ship du jour and exploit it as best they can and gimp any Alphas using them legitimately. Sounds very circular and unfair to me.
Perhaps you could get off your backsides and physically remove botters and their accounts? Sounds much better than continually having to break every ship in the game potentially.

VNI, the staple ship of null sec pilots climbing their ratting ladders is the next victim of CCP’s campaign to end fun in New Eden…why? because the same reason: bots and we lack any real creativity now.

So are you going to keep nerfing ships that you suspect botters are using? why not Spend some money instead and approach some of the Top Software Companies who would have No Problem creating software that can Detect botters instead of making the players pay the price for what others are doing? perhaps its cheaper just to nerf players ships… you are going about the botter problem in the wrong way making the players pay the price for what others are doing in game…

That’s usually how life works. Punish everyone for the actions of assholes.

Well, well… With such drone skill changes Gila will become a piece of expensive garbage in alpha’s hangar… Let me guess - CCP will offer full skill reset + Gila + drones buy-back program for fixed avg market price then?
If alpha’s with they’r 5m SP cap are game breakers, I’m really not sure, problem is in alphas… I would say -problem is in a game, or it`s respective owners…

How to Stop Botters? Reply, Create a “PING” ship system that Requires a Return “PING” within a set period, consequence of Unanswered “PING” ship Shuts Down rats Spawn and Destroy Vessel, but this will be bad for AFK people? Yes, unless you are playing or Docked you will Die…

It “MUST” be understood that Botting Ships are Programmed to do ONLY certain activities, this is their weakness and flaw by which they can be detected, in other words they DO NOT play Like people, everything they do is Automated to an extent that the Automation Itself is the KEY to Software Detecting them…

The salty alphas need to go back and read the tos.

Ruining ships because of cheaters is not a solution. Drone boats ment to stay drone boats, beside that what with all other OP drone boats, plenty of them in game, ishtar, worm, gila, rattlesnake just to name few, are they gonna nerf it all and effectively expel drone mechanics from game ? Makes no sense. Ban the cheater instead !

I’m new alpha player, was planning to buy some omega time, couse found gila and medium drones fun and only way to play, thx now i don’t see any reasone to buy omega, couse I’m forced to pay to be able to do some content (not top content, no game exploit, just casual crabing)
also it shows me, that if I create new clone, and use other skills set, which woudld be fun, it also will be nerfed, no thx, do whatever you want without me.
Why bothering with anti bot alghoritms, lets cut real people playerbase, best way to show that ccp doen’t need new players and new subs.

This is likely to hurt those that play by the rules more than the botters. Anyone that PLEXes their account using VNI ratting is going to be impacted. Players that multi-box to train multiple specialized characters are likely to be affected most with a high probability of not being able to PLEX those accounts anymore.

If human players can’t PLEX their accounts anymore, they will vote with their feet and leave Eve altogether. The botters will just keep doing what they’re doing, but at a slower rate. Sounds like a lose / lose situation to me.

If you want to combat botting, try changing something in the interaction that requires a bit of a brain to deal with. Nerfing is not the answer.

Is it me, or are they trying to attack afk botters by, basically, nerfing ships so they dont have to actively manage the game at all, essentially afk botting management? lol Plenty of people report botting, but nothing comes of it.

Regardless, these ■■■■-lords are literally finding the most popular ships and nerfing them, one by one, making ■■■■■■■■ excuses at every turn. I’m happy to say I went from 8 paid accounts to 2, and now they’re helping me phase out those. I know fanbois, “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. Heard it, you’re cool or something. I laughed and laughed the other day as I was tooling around nullsec, unallied with any of the psychopath-corps, almost entirely unchallenged from empty system to empty system. I’ve been playing MMOs for over 20 years, MUDs and MUSHes before. It is always fun watching a company or morons be morons.

Or you could take this opportunity and consider it a buff to the ship. It’s now a far more powerful PvP powerhouse, with incredible application on everything from frigs through battleships, pretty great maneuverability and if you can deal with the cap management it’s even got a gnarly tank for the duration of a fight.

No nerfing there. Just opportunities for more fun to be had.
