Gold sellers in WoW died about the same time ISK sellers in EvE did. It’s still relatively present in EvE due to how inconspicuous RMT transactions can get with just the in-game mechanics alone. But that’s besides the point, because not all alphas are botters and not all botters are alphas. That isn’t the point i’m trying to make.
It’s the priorities CCP are mishandling to configure the alpha gaming experience and subsequently the collateral damage it’s taking on omegas.
I 100% agree that they’re mishandling the experience. Though with things like the blackout added that means people ratting are more likely to die and incur a loss which is great and seems to be a step in the right direction. And more proactive things in regards to mechanics should be done to help minimize or completely get rid of the issue. But things should definitely be more thought out and not be done just as a temporary band-aid to a bigger problem. More active gameplay and the things behind it should be more encouraged and incentivized as well. Only time will tell with how the changes play out.
Outch… first the blackout which means ratting ships are incredibly likely to be killed and now you take away the best cheap ship… So ratting without capital backup will not be worthwhile anymore. Either you make no isk or die lose a lot of isk…
About the Alpha clones, this is clearly CCP trying to force people to go Omega. The problem with CCP is that the rules changes too much in all aspects of the games. Nerfs are everywhere with the silly excuse of “it’s for a better balance”.
The problem is the player wasting time training something that will be modified or extinct. This is a complete lack of respect from CCP.
CCP has double personnality. They want people to buy skill injectors and extractors for money and say this is completely fair, and then plan to block already trained skills ???
Of course it’s ALL ABOUT MONEY.
I just cancelled my subscriptions after 16 years. Not sure if I’ll come back.
This 100% lol, I prefer 1 off payments rather than recurring fees. And there’s no point wasting money on a subscription for the times where you’re only playing a few times out of the month.
There’s all sorts of similar examples where the answer is a resounding “yes.” Many places where if you don’t maintain your car it fails inspection and you can’t drive it,; don’t keep it regularly registered–again no driving; don’t keep it insured, yes you guessed it-- again no driving. CCP is the defacto manufacturer and authority that makes all the requirements that they can change as they wish. Don’t like it? You can take the bus.
If rather amusing anyone who’s been playing as an alpha thinks they have any sort of recourse even if they purchased a few trinkets along the way. CCP owes them nothing.
That’s fine and dandy for those under the 5m. But people who are above the 5m already paid for omega/injectors for the skill points and now we’ll be forced to pay again for something we already had.
Sadly I don’t think the vni is too strong as a ratting ship. the others cruisers are just too shitty. when the vnis dont work anymore that leaves battleships and above ):
For ratting you need max dps and be able to barely tank it.
the vni is one of the only ships smaller than a battleship that can pull off enough dps to compete with dominix, maelstrom, raven etc. I liked having a cruiser sized choice.
But it wasn’t just about dps, it was about a nearly disposable ship, the vni, that run nearly the highest anoms in the game reliably and nearly afk–in fact players could run many of them at the same time either on paid accounts or on alphas using them to farm for their few omega accounts. CCP is fixing an obvious problem.
Most MMO’s do balance changes on classes, in the case of eve it’s ships. However that doesn’t take away your progress nor do most MMO’s charge real money for what is essentially “levels”. Which is why skillpoints that were paid for should be refunded in 1 form or another.
