Also:
I’m ratting in a maxed out VNI (Drone Spec 5 included) in Angel Space
I barely make around 14mil per 20min.
Is that really gamebreaking?
Yes it’s rather cheap (around 100mil). Yes it doesn’t need much micro against NPCs…
It still dies to every remotely strong solo pvper. Therefore they die all the time. Rorquals still make 80-100mil in the same time. (2-3 times as much) Carriers and super can make even more. Pirate Battleships too can make almost twice the isk.
VNIs are the only way to finance your pvp ships in dangerous space. All that expensive crap (especially in the blackout) can only be used if you are safe space (goons, test etc)
Do you really need to cripple the people living in dangerous space and force them into the big power blocks to get their isk? VNIs to me are the foundation of small nullsec groups. If you nerf these the power shift will be even harder.
Beleave me, if I had the safe space and the backup needed, I would not run those low-income VNIs to earn my pvp ships. If you take VNIs away I’ll have to switch to pvp in t1 cruisers I guess…
I have never AFK ratted, and I don’t do anomalies in NS, but the VNI is my go to ship for level 4 security missions. The proposed changes will kill that, and I don’t have the skills invested in another ship/system to use something else.
No idea what I am going to do now to make a little bit of ISK to fund my other activities, to the point where I am starting to think that perhaps it’s time to move on.
If the nerfed VNI is only going to be able to use the same number of drones as the standard Vexor, I struggle to see what advantages the new VNI would give me over the standard ship.
@Abanas- seriously, I’d ignore the forum venom and work with your corp mates to make isk and skill up. Try to find like-minded corpies to fly with and just have fun.
Your corp recruited you as an Alpha, so they should be cool with helping you along in your career.
Having been a programmer, (Yes I’m old), I was taught that there is no such thing as CAN’T, only WON’T.
CCP can hit the bots, otherwise how do they know there are bots out there?
But it would probably cost them RL money, and they aren’t about to bite the hand that feeds them.
So they took this course of action.
And now they have opened a can of worms. And judging by some of the comments, It’s not going to taste very good.
Suddenly it’s not pay to win.
And yes, you are right. An omega account is not a win button. Eve Online is so much about experience, information, organisation, … but experience, experience, and again experience.
Even the omega account is a full experience and essential for server upkeep costs and further development. But feel free to play anything else.
I think we had a misunderstanding. My context is meant to indicate that it is pay to win, and if the free play is disappointing (as your are not experiencing victories very often if at all), I believe CCP will have a very hard time convincing these disappointed new players to go a large step further and pay real money under the guise of a better game experience.
"It’s a free account, how can anyone possibly complain. Not a hard assumption that free accounts are meant to get new subs.
As far as the changes go. Not sure it’s a solid solution to botting as many already have said many will just move on to the next ship. I like an idea I read, add stasis towers and change the AI in anomalies."
I decided to replace 50% oxygen you breathe with CO2.
Don’t complain : air is free !!!
^^
Drones are a little too meta. They dominate effectively any type of content ingame and it’s not the fault of the VNI. It’s simply the nature of drones. All drones need their DPS halved tbh, and should go back to being supplementary DPS systems not literal primary weapons.
Any boat with a 25mb bandwidth gets 100 dps for no reason. That’s unbonused. Any boat with 50 gets 180. Most t1 cruisers do roughly about 300 dps with their primary weapons alone, so you’re saying that adding a 50mb bandwidth does more than half their primary hull DPS? Do you see the issue.
There needs to be more emphasis on hull DPS. Racial DPS, and less drone bays overall
I think this is an excellent idea! For one it’s a welcome change from usual CCP tactic of nerfing things into mediocrity(see Machariel nerfs) and instead into real balancing. Thing is, maybe you also need to look at other Navy cruisers. With those new bonuses it still one of the best Navy ships, people will just switch to medium drones and it will sure cut into tick, but wont cut into usage of the ship.
It is exactly a regular vexor with a stronger but super sensitive and fiddly tank. It doesn’t have the cap of say a deimos to do the permatank thing it does, so its dependent on boosters and nos. I already fly the vni this way, and I’m telling you all the new one is weaker.
Edit:
Like 220+ dps lost. Hps goes from 209 to ~250 with same skills and tank fitting. It also loses a nos slot to a gun you have to take if you want to hit in your weight class, and it eats cap too. You’re easier to defang because 3 < 5 Or 2H2M1L 1L can get volleyed by a condor. The mediums aren’t much better.
I like eve online but i am losing a big aspect to my personal gameplay, since playing without proper drones with certain ships is just shooting yourself in the foot, hate to have spend so much time grinding out the money for done/gun hybrid ships and then have it be more redundancy. I have to agree with Jim here, it just feels like a cheap excuse to nerf the experience of players who can’t shell out the constant money for omega
The takeaway from this, coming from a bittervet of three years, is no more Alphas running t2 medium drones in Gilas. Abyssals just got a lot harder for Alphas. Which, to be honest, is how it should be. You want the pretty stuff? Pay or plex your way Omega. CCP owe Alphas nothing. Alpha clone state is a privilege that really should only be used if you can’t afford a takeout meal once a month or you grind for Plex and you’re having a bad week.
I PVP with a Alpha toon. Said toon has probably the highest ISK ratio (99.6% and I’d love to stand corrected) of any active PVPer in EVE. EVE is not Pay To Win.
Paying a bunch of IRL cash for very inefficient skill injections when you could be paying LESS IRL cash for a sub (that gets you twice the training speed, the ability to train any skill in the game instead of <10%, and also the ability to fly any t2 or t3 ship in the game on top of everything else it’s good for) is not a good idea unless you’re rich and need to inject SP RIGHT NOW… but if that was the case, you’d also be paying for a sub or PLEXing.
That’s what I meant by “any Alpha willing to spend IRL cash on injects shouldn’t be Alpha, they should be Omega.” HTH, HAND, and HTFU.
Sure… but these things you’re paying for are $20 grapes and us subs are trying to tell you the same store sells grapes for only $1 from a different aisle/shelf a few steps away… and you won’t listen.
