Yikes, that’s gonna be a brutal boat to fight in 1v1. 4 bonused turrets and a flight of heavy/medium/lights also bonused. That will tear most other navy cruisers apart. Lets keep in mind the Navy Caracal only gets +5 RoF and +5 explosion radius.

Good change; giving 125mbps bandwidth to a cruiser hull, even with a limited drone bay, always seemed a bit much to me.
But I don’t think this or the lower alpha skill caps will address the overall prevalence of drone boats as mission/ratting platforms. So long as drones are able to be set to “aggressive” and will automatically engage targets, drone boats will likely continue to be the most popular platforms for AFK/botting players.
@Bronson_Hughes Agree, Drones should get the fighter treatment and require active micro management. Reward active gameplay, please!
We’ve all seen this before in every MMO. Trying to make “interesting choices” just isn’t possible. Unless you truly balance every ship 100% across the board, there will always be an optimal ship/fit with the best return on investment.
IMO, don’t waste time nerfing the next ship and focus those man-hours on actually fighting botting.
Nobody is bitching about the current vni in pvp. These are lazy changes that do not address the actual problem with null sec anom ratting.
Don’t mistake this for a pvp buff either It’s only redeeming factor is the rep bonus which you will no longer be able to supply the cap to take advantage of. with 2 guns 2 nos and a booster you can barely keep two reps running, imagine taking away a nos and fitting another cap draining gun. Yeah, that’s going to be better. Your damage is also now at least 1/3rd guns, you are vastly easier to defang, and it’s an all in 100% of the time ship now. Yay!! it’s a bigger comet! Which is bad ass in it’s own right, however the Exe navy was a vastly more appropriate candidate for this role. It would’ve loved that rep bonus and some capacitor JS.
Wouldn’t that be nice? I wish they would’ve put a web mechanic into the anoms. They also could’ve given the rats sleeper AI. i mean anything that addresses the actual ability of a t1/1.5 cruiser to solo some of the strongest pve content in the game. I can get 14m isk ticks out of a t1 vexor with 2 heavies 2 mediums and 1 light. With the same damage bonus and bandwidth the vni will now preform around that mark. You haven’t fixed anything, only destroyed something else.
Good job ccp, there is now never a reason to chose a vni over the t1 variant for anything pve ever. Better go ahead and get the ishtar, myrm, domi, and hyperion too. Gallente doesn’t specialize in drones, drone damage, and drone boats or anything exactly like that at all.
Edit: Might as well get the SOE ships too. They’re too drone centric and actually derive their drone bonuses from gallente skills.

Damn, that VNI is looking beastly now. That thing’ll chew through frigs, dessies and cruisers like they’re not even there, with that application. Hell, “brawler”? I can see a few fits that’ll make it pretty damn scary as a kiter too. I don’t know how the market is for VNIs these days, but if I was active I’d set a few dozen aside for fun and profit. Solo and small-gang both, that thing’s going to be a brutal PvP monster.
Now this is balancing done right. Maintains viability in all current uses (as long as the player is active and engaged), loses a bit of afk-ability, and gains a beastly PvP buff filling the niche of a smaller, faster and probably more dangerous Myrm.
Now fix ACs, will ya?

PvP boats are almost never cap stable in the slightest. Stuffed to the gills with cap charges, cap management has always been vital in solo/small gang PvP.

Is the current pvp fit i run for the vni 2 nos and chomping cap boosters will keep the reps running if you don’t have to use your prop too much or get neuted at all.
Who said anything about stable. When your tank is active you have to have the cap to run it. If you can’t run that ancil out of paste because you capped yourself out you lost tank against a buffer fit. even with the rep bonus.
I also don’t have to commit if something else is heavy tackle i can land at 30 and send my ogres to do their work while I burn away.
Since the last nerf there has been little point to carrying the warriors since they can’t keep up with any kind of ceptor anymore.
