Devs Play EVE - CCP policy change discussion

Glare from the suns? Maybe just use your settings menu.

It’s not an issue with my graphics ‘Settings’, it’s an issue with the game code ‘Settings’ which other players have voiced as well. In fact a CCP Dev even acknowledged there was an issue:

which of you is the most evil? ???

2. Specifically restricted content.

  • Discussion of Warnings & Bans
  • Discussion of Moderation
  • Private communications with CCP

It’s pretty obvious that the implied answer is that it’s possible but that any dev who does will be met with repercussions.

I would assume it’s a bit easier to handle since they literally work in the same office together.

Yes, the T20 thing in the last was shitty, but I would expect CCP to have grown as a company since then with much stricter oversight and internal affairs programs.

The first time a Dev is outed or outs themselves as belonging to one of the major groups it will change the game forever.
Whether or not the Dev uses “Dev Powers” to benefit himself or the group player perception from many sectors will be “oh look, they have employees of CCP in their group whatever happens next ( win a war or lose it) will be because of the Dev”.

The truth in Eve is most often a LONG way from reality.
I think CCP need to tread very carefully with this so as to not alienate and risk losing more of the player base.

EveOffline (I know it doesn’t tell the whole story but) - August to January 2018/2019 average online was 31K - Same period 2019/2020 is at 26K with the last month at 23K.
Now, if CCP is being honest about new player retention, something does not add up. If recruitment of new players is up, why aren’t overall online numbers up?

This is cool and all. I seriously hope that the dev’s that will end up playing EVE stick to the rules.
I used to play a game called DarkOrbit back in 2009 and the dev’s would run around murdering newer players who weren’t paying through the nose for their silly [INSERT PROFANITY HERE] browser game. I suppose any employee that didn’t abide by the rules would be reprimanded.

:red_circle: I wonder if the recent changes came from devs actually playing the game and noticing how bad they are at it. Would be intriguing to know so that we as more experienced players can prepare ourselves for more of this useless stuff. Since developers are now allowed to play more in the open, they should be able to reveal more of their reasoning for these kinds of changes to the players as well.

@CCP_Myrkur can you please sit down and discuss lighting choices with the relevant parties? In today’s patch the stark difference between the black login screen and the really light character login screen gave me headaches after the 5th time logging in (I run multiple accounts and log in sequentially to check for email.) It’s the same effect as driving at night and being constantly hit by headlights in a rural location where there is no street lighting.

I know I represent a minority of CCP’s clients; but, this issue is real and impacts the players negatively.

I have had to turn my monitor’s display down to the lowest brightness setting, and it still isn’t really enough to counteract the strobe lighting effect the current laucher graphics induce on some of your player base.

Many thanks.
