Discussion Of The Implications Of Niarja's Invasion

CCP with its invasion did not ever done anything to make anyone smarter.

Thst you get by watching actually smart people talking about something, not playing some game with made up ghetto hood.

You mean the game that is an interesting teaching example of a concept in AI theory and way more than just “click lots of times until you get tired of clicking”? Pretty dishonest example there.

Mining in EVE is similar.

Those games are literally “press F1 and go AFK”? And you honestly paid money for them?

For a single player version to still be like EVE it would need to emulate those parts.

But, again we’re not talking about a single player game designed to give an EVE-like experience while still functioning as a single player game. We’re talking about literally playing EVE with no other players. Please do not move the goalposts.

You’re right. But it does seem to be doing a good job of filtering out some of the lazy and stupid players.

More like those who were more casual than you. I suppose their niche audience will become nichier.

I suppose you’ll ignore the history of EVE, where it’s most successful era was one where CCP did much less pandering to “casual” players who want a risk-free menial farming game.

FTFY

the problem is not casual vs hardcore
is player vs npc
eve should be run by players , npcs the side show
ccp is making automation do things that only players should do

With respect, how do you know we have not? I have already instituted major adjustments to those characters I have in HS.

I am afraid comments like “let Eve be Eve” are a bit of a nonsense when talking about something as new as Triglavian Invasion Chapter 3; it is not as if it has always been in the game. And most of the reasoned bits of the debate above, if you read it carefully, is not about the change in Niarja’s status per se, but the rigged mechanism by which it changed. As has been put succinctly before by others - Edencom can ultimately only lose, Trigalavians can only win. Edencom victories cannot increase a system’s security status, but Trig victories will lower it. It is a one way street, no matter how much people hide behind claims of “you should have fought harder.”

It wasn’t rigged boss, it was pushed by players and changed by players. Just deal with it and don’t go to the system. It’s really easy. like super super easy. I put the system on my avoid list and man it’s crazy I haven’t lost a single ship yet.

Closed for a clean. Man you guys love talking about internet spaceship politics, huh?

I’ve removed a large number of off topic posts. Don’t abuse the flag system, as it will end poorly if you do. Thanks!

Continue your spirited debate.

IOW, “if you ignore 99% of the game and only ever press one button that’s all you’re doing”. Can you stop being dishonest about this?

A mate of mine likes to play Flight Simulator in real time.

Ok, so you do answer my question: they aren’t at all like EVE’s mining or combat PvE with no other players in the game. Playing a serious flight sim is an engaging activity even if it takes place at a fairly slow pace. A good sim comes pretty close to the experience of real flying, and speaking as someone who owns a real plane there is nothing even remotely close to EVE’s menial tasks in operating a plane.

If you mean literally the entirety of EVE but with no other players, yes, I would play that.

I sincerely doubt it. And maybe you’re masochistic enough to slog through such a menial and pointless game but I doubt many people share your stubbornness.

Do you play any games other than EVE?

Nope. In fact I don’t even play EVE, I just play Forums Online.

tear ducts go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

honestly, this is the most interesting thing to happen to eve in a long time. It will be really cool to see what happens to the dynamics of highsec trade.

Remember when there was 5 major trade hubs with dozens of minihubs? I miss the Isinokka lv4 agent hub.

like the “X” series of games? eg X3: Reunion

I dunno. Its pretty boring building up an empire that nobody will ever see. Its like playing minecraft alone…

One of my char has -0.001 to edencom and they didnt shoot me on a gates)))

That is unintended.

Great observation! Love to see it!

You’re being dishonest because you have to ignore every single “PLEASE TRY CLICKING THIS BUTTON” hint the game throws at you for it to be just a game of “click button, make clip”. I’m not going to say it’s literally impossible for a person to be dumb enough to miss the other 99% of the game, but it’s like saying that EVE is a game of sitting in station and spinning your ship.

But they are the same concept. Easy, relaxing games with little input and no tangible reward of any kind. An enjoyable way to wast a bit of time. I think you’re being disingenuous about it simply so you can paint the desire to mine peacefully in EVE as unplayable.

Clearly you haven’t ever tried a decent flight sim if you think doing it is “easy”. There’s a reason you have to do tons of hours of training before they’ll let you do any of that stuff in a real plane.

Doubt it all you want, it’s the reality. Just becase I enjoy things you wouldn’t doesn’t make my choice of entertainment any worse. It just means out tastes differ, which is fine.

Ok, clearly you’re the sort of person who cancels their streaming services because watching the snow pattern on the TV is absolutely fascinating. But you are not in any way representative of normal people.

I’m in Minmatari space no systems turned anywhere near me yet, or turning. We do have a system with a blue star just a couple of jumps from my staging system of Hakeri. But not really that much trig activity maybe a few out in the mning belts. Otherwise same old same old.
