well i start playing found the spare cash to get omega just to have the prices change 5 months in… im going to put that money now into the total war game, well donr CCP
Sure, but the timing is impeccible just as a news release on price changes appears. Coincidence I think not.
These price increases just do not make any sense for a lot of people.
Me personally, I can not justify paying 75$ Canadian per month to play this game, that is way too much.
I have 3 accounts.
And talk about Plex.
You want to raise the price of plex great, but why are you nerfing the amount of Plex? So not only are you getting LESS Plex than before, you are paying more for it.
That is just a money grab. 50 Plex? what the heck can you possibly buy with 50 Plex? or 100 Plex?
Dont mind me venting, this is just me separating myself from the game.
Its like that argument in a relationship before the break up.
It probably would have been a good idea to wait until after fanfest to increase the prices
Here’s a novel idea. Have you thought of halving or reducing subscription and PLEX prices to make it more attractive for people to spend real money rather than increasing them and alienating the community and risk losing players? I would rather spend less and sub more accounts than spend more and sub less accounts or none. I am sure others may feel the same, just my view.
I am no economist but wouldn’t it make sense to lower prices and sell more than increase prices and sell less?
Yes, but a lot of people don’t.
I play 3 accounts, I can not pay 75$ a month to sub, so I guess I am down to one account, Oh well right?,
Also CCP wants to increase revenue? Honestly I can not blame a company for that, but why are they decreasing the amount of Plex and expecting you to pay more for less?
You can not explain that way at all. that is a money grab plain and simple
Wow, I had no idea the security at my work play EVE Online!
Well said. While I get that CCP is a business and businesses need money to survive, I’m not convinced the price increase is a heartless money grab. The devs and the staff who work there also care and want EVE to be around “forever” as said by one executive of CCP (the name escapes me sorry). No one wants to pay more but as you said, things are getting expensive and we’re in a state of hyperinflation, the likes of which I haven’t seen since…what…the 1990s I think. The money has to come from somewhere.
It looks like, I am going to win eve after all. Everything but keeping, or lowering the subscription prices is unacceptable for me. So -2 omega characters if you implement this changes. I stopped playing world of tanks after years and hundreds of euros payed for tanks, I can stop playing Eve also.
Based on what they’ve said, it appears they are under the impression that after the announcement at Fanfest the following will hold true:
Continued Subs + Resubs + New Subs > Lost Subs
And they will make money rather than lose money. They’re counting on more income and not less income. Remember as well, that new accounts are provided with varying discounted options to go Omega, whether it’s one month, three months, or some discounted Pack including Omega. They will also be continuing to run their discounts on multiple month subscriptions while also offering the new 24 month subscription which is only a 3% increase.
IMHO, they’re looking to get buy-ins up front to better forecast future revenue. The month to month people are just a month’s income. The two plus month people are future revenue. It looks good on the books. It will help them better afford to develop things for the game if they have a bunch of folks that have committed to longer term subscriptions. It doesn’t really matter if they play, it’s about their money being there beyond a month.
I believe this to be the case because on the discounts on the longer term subscriptions. One could see where if everybody were to do a 24 month subscription, CCP would have less revenue over those 24 months. But, they would have more revenue now - with which they would hope to get more players into the game to make up for any lost revenue down the road.
Their method of doing things, is what their brain bank has looked at - and - it’s almost impossible to deny that they’ve considered lowering prices to draw in a crowd and found that lacking compared to their current plan.
Hell, even their talk of possible future discounts for multiple accounts would simply be them recouping some of that potential lost revenue. I can see them doing that sometime later this year or for the start of the new year. It would be something again where they would hope that there would be that increase in revenue from new or renewed multiple accounts to offset the lost revenue from old multiple accounts. It simply doesn’t fit into their plans for the now, imho.
One man’s poison is another’s passion. The changes you mentioned haven’t affected me as a new player. I’m no big shot but I am having a lot of fun doing my own little thing. I’m sorry you are not, and I hope you find that fun again either here or in another game.
I’ll file this under the “Your mileage will vary” category. Everyone will have their own take on that.
I won’t say my experience with CCP customer service is the truth, but I’m happy with it, particularly my question about running EVE under Windows 11.
So why are you still here?
You’re like a fly around the proverbial pile.
You do realise that makes you the proverbial pile?
You evidently can’t read numbers, so let me give you the current prices per single month sub:
USD: $14.99
EUR: €14.99
GBP: £11.99
These numbers are not the same.
When it comes to the new pricing structure, I am personally anticipating a new GBP price in the range of £15.49-£15.99.
I will laugh my ■■■■■■■ ass off if they try to claim £20 is equivalent value to $/€20. As a secondary point, the reason USD/EUR are equivalent numbers is because that price is pre-US tax, but includes EU VAT.
Either way, honestly, that’s still too much for the time I spend in the game - I’m completely unsubbed atm, if I need to do something Omega I’ll use my PLEX stash.
F*&£ giving this company money for a product that’s on a serious decline.
To say the true, in Russia 99% of players play alpha or buy plex for ISK because the game price increased last couple years in 2.5 times in Rubbles and current prices have already led to a decrease in online in Russian community, I were in Unreal, Banderlogs, Legion of xxDeathxx and everywhere decrease in online at list 30% of players stopped to play. With the new price, let the CCP play with they own, currently my game was paid for a year, and I’m gonna to change my payments way from real money to plex, if it will not be possible to pay with ISKs, then I will go look for another game. I have a good salary for Russia, but for me the game has now become expensive too. Good luck CCP!
I don’t think I can afford more than 15USD a month for any mmo. When I saw the discount on subscription I was about to resub luckily I saw this…I want to but…I can’t especially since I have a lot of catching up to do in game.
Respected Developers and Server Admins.
Increasing prices over a 20 year period in itself is not necessarily unjustified.
However, i’d really like to bring your attention to two questions, which the world (playerbase) is wondering about:
-
What exactly is the added value of the increased prices? Do we get new ships/new systems/more stable servers/faster skill training/a free 2nd skill queue for our accounts/…/a combination of the above to add more value to our gameplay, and therefore more value or is this added value JUST in the hands of CCP? I don’t see why i should pay more than i already do to play a game i like, but debated hard whether to subscribe to for another year.
-
Why do you ask for DOUBLE the time committment from us to keep prices per month close ish to what they used to be?
Sure, i’ll sub yearly for 10-11 EUR/month to join the club of eve. On one account because i have a life.
But with the instability the game is going through right now, there is no guarantee that the servers are even still online by the time my subscription runs out.
So please. I don’t mind the price increase so long as it’s justified with an actually better experience, but this…
In unison with the Diablo Community: “Is this an out of season April fool’s joke?”…
You might be thrilled at the idea, but I promise, CCP isn’t. If they lose even 25% of subscriptions—not players, mind you—then this will cost them money. Which means if someone has cancelled 80 accounts (and yes, some of them have), CCP needs to retain another 240 people with one account just to offset that one customer. And I promise, they’re watching that math closely.
