well anything costs more thoose days… so fair for me in that case. but then i see plex packs above 20k plex for 650 bucks?? are you insane? and the idea to get a discount with lon relatet contracts above 12 months is also just silly.
Costs are usually passed onto the customer. Shocker.
What is a substitude for avocado toast?
Cutting Starbucks is no loss…
So, fun fact, Iceland is one of the most union-friendly countries in the world, and CCP is definitely a union shop. Falcon used to be their shop rep.
Well, you know, some folks tend to lose perspective a bit when their real wallets are treated like someone else’s game.
“This adjustment reflects global trends impacting general production costs and accounts for years of inflation, amending the 1-month USD subscription rate for the first time since 2004.”
Inflation has happened every year since 2004. As indicated by CCP no increases were ever made, not even in 2008 when inflation was nearly 6% in U.S. So, is CCP simply passing to us the cost of inflation and production starting now?
Any company at the top of it’s game really needs no reason for price increase. If your that good, you simply announce price increase and implement it. I have seen service price increases over 100% with zero client losses because it was just that good, no one else could compete.
At the end of the day CCP provides an entertainment service just like the movies. ET and Rocky Horror movies ran repeatedly for years. Prices increased making a lot of money with no changes at all. EvE is similarly increasing price with no visible changes planned only vague rumors of changes to be announced at Fan Fest.
I am definitely sticking around to see what happens. I look forward to seeing what CCP/PA actually does and if the communities actions back what’s posted in this thread.
sounds some kind of mimimi… i heard alot that ■■■■ by miners not long ago : we pay we whant. adapt or bye!
True for the US market or those paying in US$. Not true for other markets or other currencies. They are being deliberately disingenuous.
I commented before about not being able to sub my account because of my financial situation. And I have read many who defended CCP for raising their price because of the cost of living. I understand that all. But I just went to the grocery store and where a flat of eggs use to be 9.99 us dollars is now 15.99 and that is just within the month. It is okay to say yes I will pay if I can afford the increase. No big deal. But I find it hard for us who barely make it to accept such an increase. I can see an increase by increments but such a drastic increase doesn’t make sense. I just have one account. Many of my player friends have many accounts. CCP is going to lose more then they gain in this increase. I am already hunting for other games like Star Conflict to spend time with. Eve has gotten so boring. No new content. The promise ages ago of walking on stations is null. They even took away the ability to see your character walk around a bit. Industry is really nothing now. Not say about other things that I have heard has hit the dust. As many above said. Give more content to justify the increase. But it doesn’t matter to me one way or the other after this account runs out next month. That is the end for me. I have to put that money to buying eggs.
No NFTS are coming
Oh well in time of inflation people make cut’s and the first cut is useless stuff just like Netflix, Spotify, Youtube( all bunch of subs that you can live without to save some bucks). I can accept the food prices rise, the petrol prices rise, the electricity prices rise, real estate… etc… but 30% rise for pixels? Really? Well eve you just became my useless thing that I will get rid off.
I also want to make a comment to those who defend the game makers because they didn’t increase the price when inflation went up to 6%. I was working back then. I could opt to bring my lunch instead of eating out. That was my choice in order to play Eve. But my friends do not forget one thing that is different today then back then. We had jobs still. Many of our friends here do not have jobs and/or barely making ends meet. There is a difference between those two time periods.
CCP i wish u good luck at fanfest explaining the 33% increase.
There already is NFT’s from the tournament, also they are continuing to explore digital economies and worlds outside of TQ using the Eve brand, that includes more Eve branded NFT’s. Pretty much almost everything CCP does is Eve branded, look at the CCPGames product page.
You are a bit late, and you are also missreading the press release on NFT’s with your confirmation bias…
3% if you pay for 24 months.
Perhaps you should pick a subscription plan that is more economical and forward looking.
You can also set aside ingame PLEX from your profits. You can also take advantage of special offers that appear from time to time.
You only have yourself to blame for picking the worst payment plans.
Why should you get discount if you are non committed to paying in the long term?
It seems like Pear Abyss the owner of CCP has decided that it is the best moment to gain maximum income and let the game die.
Sinking user numbers have already been a problem to eve online and they tried to get new players. Now they may have decided that the game is in an end phase where they try to gain more money for a short time, then continuing to build more mechanics which should encourage the players to even spend more in the game. And when the user number is to small they may just stop development.
I worry about the game and I like the game. And I wish CCP can overcome the loss of trust with good business practice in the future.
How autonomous is CCP from Pearl Abyss?
No NFTs are coming to Tranquility. That’s an important distinction, and it’s something that everyone who thinks the ‘CCP Hellmar’ statement about NFTs needs to understand properly.
NFTs were never coming to TQ
An NFT is a promise of ownership. CCP will never allow anyone else to own anything in the Tranquility data tables. You don’t even own your own words once they’re typed into the EVE chat system, CCP does.
Instead, think of NFTs like the ones CCP already made: the AT NFTs.
Those NFTs were generated about events on the AT’s Thunderdome server, but they weren’t generated on Thunderdome. There are no NFTs on Thunderdome.
Similarly, if CCP were to use art assets from EVE and go back to Tezos with a bunch of new NFTs, say, each commemorating the loss of one supercapital ship that died in the M2-XFE battles, that would not be on TQ. They would in no way have broken their promise.
And remember:
CCP will never sell fitted ships.
CCP will never sell skillpoints.
This latest promise is just as empty and worthless.
According to Paragon:
So as long as they’re making money (not operating at a loss for Peral Abyss) they get to keep the decision making.
