they still get a 10% out of that
10% of a small number is still a small number.
out of a 30% price rise that have no reason ?
Didnât they state cost of living (inflation)? Thereâs your reason. Look around. Itâs not a new phenomena, itâs been going on for decades.
no other mmo have rise their price tho
Games not raising prices? Games Workshop Announces Price Increases for Warhammer 40K Figures and Books
A) Warhammer 40,000, the tabletop miniatures combat system is not an MMO.
B) GW has been known for being insanely expensive since at least 1988.
In the early 90s, a single blister pack of Space Mrines cost as much as most RPG suppliements. A Rhino cost more than the core rulebooks of most RPG systems.
I am pretty sure prices will rise on many games from here on out, not just boxed or online games, online services too.
Just takes one to move first, then the avalance follows.
So youâve been saying, but once again, comparing a physical product that needs to be shipped around the world to a digital one is fundamentally flawed, and arguing against he statement âno other MMO has risen their pricesâ with the example of something that is not an MMO is about as valid as saying âWebsite subscription prices will go up, and I can prove it because cars are more expensiveâ.
40Kâs minis have gone up in price pretty regularly every 2-5 years. Their prices go up more often than anything short of gasoline. Hell, their prices go up even when other things are coming down. Not the example you want to hang your argument on.
The move as begun to raise prices, you really think other companies are going to sit around and just go nah I wonât raise prices and just absorb costs?
He said MMO not games. You are comparing apples to pizzas.
Table top Minis from warhammer are not comparable to a MMO. When looking at pricing you compare like to like.
Everquest
Wow
FF14
FF11|
Runescape
ESO
ETC ETC those are valid comparisons. The price of Warhammer minis maters about as much as the cost of Monopoly or a deck of cardsâŚ
Because EVE is going up?
Again, weâve seen major expansions from other MMOs this year, and those MMOs have not raised prices, and in some cases, have reduced the cost of access. Extrapolating a trend in MMOs from one case is nonsense.
So how long do you think companies are going to aborb costs? A week? Month? Two months? Companies report quarterly in many places. I donât see that going on for more than a quarter.
Absorb what costs?
You are talking like EvE is hemorrhaging money. What specific costs have gone through the roof that require a 30% cost increase?
I am not arguing against them raising prices. Its their game they can do as they like. I was simply pointing out that your comparison was poor.
As for raising prices they are welcome to do so. However anytime you raise prices you need to run the risk vs reward. EvE is an older game, it hasnt had a ton of new content in quite a while and just spiked hits costs by 30%.
Not a single other game has done so and many of them provide more content than EvE does.
We will get to find out pretty quick what the elasticity is on Eve pricing. Gas prices go up you have no choice but to pay. EvE online you have other options. Time will tell what the player base chooses.
Inflation and costs of doing business. Those go up, that shows on earnings. They no like bad earnings.
So your argument is "the changes must have been good because there are still players "?
Before the rattati administration there were more than 25k (and current average is 20k). So letâs just turn your argument around: If everything from rattati was so great, why are there less players and not more, especially despite new NPE?
But back to the topic, I really have listed arguments, how about you respond to them for once instead of coming with assumptions about my âmentalityâ
âInflation and costs of doing businessâ is a nebulous term that is more or less meaningless and can be used to justify literally anything. Inflation is hitting the US rather hard at the moment but the fall out from said inflation is still a bit away. Prices are going to start going up for sure across the board on a lot of things.
Costs are not up 30%.
30% is a massive knee jerk reaction. In the world of MMOâs where 14.99 has been the gold standard for over a decade making a 30% jump when most of the competition is going 100% free to play with battle passes and cosmetics is a epic failure on their part in the form of creativity.
Their player base is shrinking. Their revenue is down. Increasing prices is going to exacerbate the player numbers and retention and new player conversions. It MIGHT break even but its definitely not going to be making them mega bucks.
There are ways to increase revenue that dont require a 30% spike in your retail pricing.
Eve has been struggling to find a way to monetize their game effectively. Selling kits, ships, skills etc were all attempts at eve to monetize their game.
We sadly donât get to see the metrics behind the scenes but what the CSMâs have said EvEâs own cosmetic reports arenât accurate and there are TONS of options there to milk that they simply refuse to do.
Again Im all for eve making money, Id even be fine with a 10- 15% increase in sub costs. But a 30% cost is insane. Ignoring the community begging for cosmetics to throw money at is insane. The list goes on.
In short, ccp, in the last 2-3 years, have not give us a good update that wasnât a the scope video about event that could justified a reason for the massive increase price
Inflation does not show up as its own thing. It is a part of the cost of doing business. And nothing in the PA earnings reports has shown any need to raise prices. Weâll have the info for Q1 of 2022 the Thursday after Fanfest.
I agree, this would make me very happy as I too have multiple characters on multiple accounts. This would be a fantastic change for OMEGA account holders.
