While a lot of players are complaining about the price because THEY have to pay more there’s a lot of us who see the bigger effects of that as well.
Eve is a sandbox which means A LOT of the content comes from interacting with other players.
Even if you play mostly solo you’re probably still buying and selling things from / to other players.
In a game like WoW for example you could just play with your small group of 5 / 20 people and do all the content they release.
Eve isn’t like that, the game becomes a lot better the more players there are. On top of that it’s (almost) a global server so there’s no “migrating to a better populated realm”.
So you rely on people all over the world to make the game feel alive.
Price increases will lower subbed accounts. These might be people you shoot at, who farm the materials for ships or who build ships.
All this to say that there’s a tipping point where content dries up so much that people consider the game dead. Even IF the game is still profitable at that point it’s no longer the game you used to play as mechanics will have to be introduced to make up for all the people who left.
While players in other MMOs are only a source of income they’re vital in Eve to make the game work.
A price increase for a product that’s been at the same price for 17 years shouldn’t be a huge deal it is if you’re relying on your customers for more than just their money.
We’ve already seen what the game is like when a lot of people stop logging in during blackout.
So even though a lot of us can easily afford the added cost we’re still worried what this will do to the game when people who can’t afford to run their (alt) accounts start unsubbing.
It is absolutely critical feedback being removed. Likening ccp decision makers to crack heads via memes is about as critical as i can be on this platform. I wonder if its the act depicted or the subject matter. Lets test that out.
This will kill a game i have learned to love when i started playing at the start of covid. i was already debating on if i should invest my time and money into such an old game (wondering how long it would last) it was a fun 2 years playing your game CCP, but this price increase is the death of the game. seeing this post made me not even want to play today…
GOODBYE EVE ONLINE …sorry you have bad management but a good game concept…
price increase without content!!! you set a new low for the gaming commuity as a hole.
It’s the lying and gaslighting we should be angry over.
They think we don’t have access to pearl abyss’ finical statements, or that Eve players don’t know how corporate finance works.
The electric bill for their UK servers might have gone up, but this isn’t because of ‘global production costs.’
It’s because eve’s only competitive advantage was it was a hardcore game and they could corner that niche market. They lost their competitive advantage by dumbing down the game for short term subs growth.
They realized this too late and while blackout and scarcity we’re needed to keep Eve’s competitive advantage long term, CCP needed the subs of the casuals to keep from going bankrupt because they squandered their money on WoD, dust etc.
They also fired anybody who wasn’t a yes man.
This is the real reason the have to raise capital asap and they think we are too dumb to figure it out.
Inflation excuses are the best tools to extort people while keeping hands clean. “Applause”
It’s the others fault hay?
I’d be courious to see if you’ll raise your employee because they need to pay for the unjustified raised of gaz (Total by exemple) or just cash-in, as Total, by exemple
Maybe servers cost more now(?) 30% more?
I’ll try to plex this month, alone, because at the moment I’ve lost 3 friends who wanted to join for better isk and faster plexing.
It seems you want to cash-in before you knock down the game.
I am really pissed off because I can’t bring my friends into the game, first it was a challenge because of the complexity of it. But now its just a complex, time-consuming and expensive game,
GJ and Fly Safe to your carabean or irish bank…
Thieves!
Admitting that you’re deleting posts and then saying “nothing with feedback” says exactly that. You’re picking and choosing what is feedback and what is not. You dont get to decide which of our opinions are feedback and arent. You already stated the ISD team has had to step back for being over zealous.
you’ve earned the abuse. with a price hike like this. Don’t like it? Resign from an ISD. The notion that you aren’t deleting legitimate comments is literally an outright lie. and we are all watching you do it
As I mentioned earlier, Constructive feedback is always allowed. Outright Abuse, personal attacks or posting inappropriate imagery content is being removed. Everything else is staying.
I do not understand inflation, currency exchange rates, or that business expenses can go up. All I know is that you’re raising prices -which is bad no matter how you look at it. I don’t care that:
you gave us a heads up almost a month out
that price increase for longer subs are more reasonable
that you’re offering a new longer sub package at an attractive price point
that Eve still offers an incredible value (well, assuming you play more than a couple of hours a month)
that other entertainment products such as netflix and wow have seen price increases in the past year
