So the primary reason is they lost Russia according to Paragon…
And now they lose the rest of the world
If they’re announcing something new at Fanfest that will increase the amount of fun I get from the game by 34%, that’d be a net win.
That said, 34% is a lot. If they’re just referring to “the Proteus gets some more CPU and medium structures suck now” as the big news for Fanfest, then, yeah, no. 34% is like the wormholes release. Here’s hoping.
and now they lose the rest, great idea ;3
If that’s the case, then Paragon openly lied to everyone when he claimed that it’s all because the Russian players can’t pay anymore.
I’ve put up with quite a few absolutely MORONIC decisions by CCP over the last couple years, I’ve tried to make the best of it, but now I’m done you guys have just ruined this game and increasing the price when you should be DECREASING THE PRICE is just an insult to the customers.
Consider that 3% over 2 years is profitable otherwise it would not be offered. That means 3% on 1 month is even more profitable as the base price per month is higher. Pretty much shows a 30% cash grab.
now i just want to stick a carrot into rantanplan
So when they are able to pay again they are going to reduce it back, right? RIght!? (insert Anakin/Padme meme)
Hi, 16 year bitter vet.
This is bad and you should feel bad for even suggesting it. Go sit in the corner and think about what you just said.
Name 1 other MMO that has prices like these. Ill wait. Hell not even WoW tried this. Also this is not PTW games like BDO and Lost Ark.
You have to have a hug sub base first before you can justify a price increase and you sure as hell better have some engaging content first.
That was also asked, and predictably enough, he had no answer.
Lets count the subs that where lost in this thread lol
not 25%. 33%.
(5 of 15 ->20 is 1/3 of current price)
it would be 25% if they were DECREASING the price from 20 TO 15.

I can not agree with you more. It seems the logical thing to do is lower the price to attract more players to cover the ones lost. With this move, They can count on one thing; when things settle over there. the players will look at the cost and walk away. Common sense says: Lower costs and promote that.
So much for the marketing and desire for more players…
There are still a few people that play Everquest too… But it will never be a serious game again.
Trigger-happy
that’s what we get for not buying mining barge packs
This is the consequence of 5+ years of failed monetization strategies.
Given the choice between doing things that would make you a lot of money and make players happy (alliance skins) and things that would make you very little money and make everyone upset (retriever packs) CCP has consistently worked hard to go the extra mile backwards: make less money while infuriating the playerbase.
Now they don’t have enough money and are trying to raise the price of subbing, which will drive out new players and returning vets who don’t want to commit for a year+ sub. Oh well.
Note that the high tiers of omega/plex make it pretty cheap still; this is at least partly an attempt to lock people in on 2-year subs by offering it basically half price.
