Bulk purchases on something you always want and use makes economic sense.
Especially if your currency is inflating faster than your income.
Nah its not visible. Not that it doesnt cost money, but with what we already pay blizzard keeps their ā ā ā ā running. More servers for more people for less money.
I suspect that new players would be very unlikely to go straight for the big bulk subscription offers, which sucks because if true then CCP have basically created a higher barrier for new players to become subscribers.

They can use Alpha to try it FREE first. Not sure how FREE is a high barrier of entry.

I bought one time a year in advance, and never again.
Was right before Indu changes, many i played with stopped playing, so i just keep loging in couse i payed already and didnt want it to be a complete waste and in the end i just used a few month of the year. Since than i never bought more than a few month in advanceā¦ couse if i cant play, than i dont pay.

Play as Alpha FREE and put pennies in the savings jar for 24 months (or middle ground subscription duration).
Also stack the PLEX in game.
The issue is the perceived value that people get in exchange for their money ā¦ and my concern is that CCP has just made it a lot harder to argue that people are getting sufficient value for their money.
Yeah Money lost Value, Eve lost a lot of Value and Players.

Dude they lost the russian market and now they want the rest of us to make up the difference, inflation has nothing to do with it.
Are they willing to lower the sub price once the roubles start flowing in?

@Flamespar is making a good point, and itās not related to budget issues as you write. People can do the math and figure out that the yearly subscription works out cheaper overall than the monthly sub (with the new changes itās even easier to do that math in your head)
But there are people today who buy monthly subs and and not yearly subs, even though yearly subs work out to be more advantageous. And the players Iāve spoken to who are in this position give a variety of reasons that arenāt related to their ability to ābudgetā:
- not sure they can play a full year
- not sure they will want to play a full year
- just looking at the 131 $ price for the full year of omega and thinking this is a big sum to be spending at one time
Now people in this situation (critically as Flamespar has pointed out) include new players trying out the game we want to convert from alpha to paying omega, which is the conversion that CCP wants. With this announcement, CCP is making this conversion harder and less likely for new customers to make:
Assuming players make rational decisions and purchase at the cheapest price
- are you sure you can play a full two years
- are you sure you want to play a full two years
- will you look at the not 131$ but 270$ price tag and say to yourself this is a perfectly normal sum to be spending at one time for a 20 year-old spaceship game
Here is where the problem starts. The new price changes @CCP_Swift is announcing here are making all of these decisions less likely. Sure weād like to lock in the players to longer subscription periods and I myself am looking at the 2 year subscription plan that is only 3% higher for me and I think itās a reasonable price increase. I think this is convenient to only have to go through the purchasing formality for all of my alts once every two years. I am going to buy this formula for sure because I know I can and want to play the game for much more than two years.
I know this because Iāve learned from many years of playing this game that I like the game enough I am ready to do that.
But the 20$ and 270$ options are going to scare away new players, they may pass on the opportunity to learn if they want to get hooked. There should be something more than alpha or 20$ a month that is still accessible for players as they unlock more of the game through acquiring SP.

and if the Russians can come back some day, they wont come
back anyway after increseing the subcost from 999 Rubles to 1550 or 2000 anyway .
lets hope ccp is planning to throw finnaly some effort into eve again instead of makeing Dust 2 or some similar jokes.
