‘them’ are the friends of the family who are allergic to cat hair, right?

Here an example of a miner losing his ancestral privileges. All these kind of rants come always from the same side: angry-bot-aspirants.

Dont worry, the locator agent will meet you soon.

I will 100% quit eve forever if they inject this woke B.S. into the game. It’s probably the only thing CCP could do to drive me off for good.

There’s enough abject lunacy in the real world i have to deal with on a daily basis. I do not want that crap here, in a video game. I don’t give a what somebody considers themself to be. And frankly i should never even hear about it because it’s so wildly irrelevant to internet space ships.

This would be more destructive than scarcity ever could…

It’s pretty cringe how much you are crying about this.

No it isn’t, he makes a very good point about separating RL from internet gaming and escapism, which is why we’re all here.

I’m the same, start bringing all that into the game and it’s off to Doomheim.

We get more than enough of that rammed down our throats on a daily basis as it is. Did you see the news yesterday about the pride flag?

Indeed, it was always my understanding that when you logged in you left RL politics at the door, but apparently we can’t do that anymore because triggered snowflakes

They seem to forget that a fantasy universe doesn’t have to follow the same rules that the real world does, if i wanted to craft a universe that had a planet where there were only blue male aliens that doesn’t make it non-inclusive because i created that universe and i decide the rules it follows

EVE is a fictional universe and can have its own rules and stances, please leave your personal ideologies at the door

It’s not “IRL politics” to ask women if they think the reason other women don’t play EvE is because of incessant rape threats, and sexual harassment. It’s a pretty good question, and I’m surprised CCP hasn’t asked us about this before.

I’m sorry you are upset about that, but get over it?

Everybody knows that such things don’t happen here. EVE is a very clean, family-friendly game. In fact, CCP is so sure of this, that they feel confident in deleting any mention of such because obviously it’s just pointless trolling by liars who are trying to hurt their company’s image with libel. This way, potential players know that this is a very harmonious and inclusive game that they should play when they browse the forums to see what players say about it.

Really?

So if it’s as incessant as you say how many times have you reported the individuals saying it? Because we certainly don’t see it in here.

Plenty of women play EVE, I’ve met quite a few at various meets including Fanfest.

BTW, I’d like to see that question in it’s entirety to see if they actually mention rape threats.

And who is making those threats exactly? never heard of one in all my years of playing EVE, my first CEO was a woman and i’ve met loads of them at in-person meetups, so i’m not seeing where you think these threats are coming from lol

It happens all the time. The reason you don’t see it here is because the mods instantly delete stuff like that to white-wash the forums so that potential players don’t think this game is too toxic for them to play. But the harassment itself is absolutely real. Which is why Aiko has an off-site blog that CCP can’t touch, no matter how much they want to.

And let’s not pretend that the average EVE player is a MENSA member. The normal distribution of EVE players is going to be nearly perfectly in line with the normal distribution of the population as a whole, and as such there are plenty of room-temperature IQ mouth-breathers here whose logical thought process terminates at “girl very mean, yell loudly plan to hurt her with own p■■■■.” And they arrive at this course of action based entirely on the avatar image of the target of their ire, because “I am man, my picture is man, man is man, woman is woman, duh.”

Case in point: I had two BF members follow me around for weeks last year, calling me a “f■■” and talking about how they’d “slide their d■■■■ down my throat” and how I’d “get a taste of their nuts” or “drink their c■■” or whatever (no, the irony isn’t lost on me here). And I never even really interacted with those people. (Also there’s a lot of irony in how much censorship these posts need to actually go through while leaving enough to still retain context—I don’t know why CCP insists so hard on protecting the forums from “bad words” when a player is going to see them in local chat upon stepping foot into a market hub anyway.)

The missing link for you here is how different people react to this behavior. The average man might just ignore it, or talk back. But the average woman is more likely to simply say “nope, don’t want anything to do with this,” and silently turn off the game. Still, like I mentioned in a different (now hidden) post, this isn’t a systemic issue. It’s just low-intelligence, rogue individuals behaving badly. Reporting is a pointless waste of time because CCP doesn’t do anything except send warnings to these people (because they don’t want to risk losing even more subscription payers), and because the people who consistently receive this sort of harassment tend to have thick skins, and it doesn’t even really register on the radar.
