Check out my killboard.
That proves nothing. People choose to do what they do because they want to, not because they are “miserable”.
They are all miserable.
Just look at them!
I can’t discredit your opinion more than you just did.
You post on these forums which indicates you’re invested into the game, AND interested in interacting with others. You are not the norm.
High sec (and then especially the corps that are actively recruiting there) is full of AFK’s, null sec alts who log in from time to time and people trying to take advantage of clueless newbies, generally it’s a combination of the three. Are there exceptions? Yes, of course but they ARE exceptions.
As someone who deals a lot with newbies I know their stories and I notice the corps they joined and, almost invariably, it’s filled with morons, fools and lazies. And most of those are indy, there is nothing wrong with indy but generally people who like spreadsheets, numbers and afk mining probably don’t have great people skills, or would be a good environment for a hapless newbie to end up in.
You go make some rando alts claiming to be new, play for a few days, get invited into a rando corp and see what happens. VERY high chance it’s full of idiots who will “teach” those newbies nothing of value or actually just flat out lie and tell them nonsense, very often you’ll find that if you bring up that you don’t play in their time zone they’ll try to recruit you anyway because they simply don’t CARE, they just want bigger numbers, more tax and more people they can use their buyback program on (which is part of the reason they will push newbies to indy, so they can get materials from them).
Result: newbies get locked into a corp full of stupid, weirdos, people playing in different time zones and people pushing them into a direction. And since they are actually new players they’re already overwhelmed to begin with and this generally results in “F this” and they just uninstall. I don’t have a problem with newbies not liking the game, I DO have a problem with a newbie’s First Contact being some afk number cruncher who will back stab that newbie right from the start, while being a fool. So why on earth would you want to advocate for that.
And as said, as much as I don’t like the direction Uni has been going in to for years now, they are still one of the best options. I’m also 100% sure there are good groups out there, but most are not. Percentage wise they are the minority.
Good, honest corps are hard to find.
Took me 18 years to finally find one.
One of my alts had the misfortune of logging into corp chat the other day and some guy was ranting on about the Earth being flat. It seems one can’t escape the lunacy anywhere now.
There used to be a regular in the Why Was I Ganked? channel who would continuously discuss what one might charitably consider ‘Christian fundamentalist flat-Earthism’. Basically, he said the Bible proves the Earth is flat, and he was preaching the ‘truth’ in EvE Online, which is funded by NASA in order to trick people into thinking that outerspace exists. Eventually, I scammed him for 50 billion and he went away. He never suspected that I’m not a flat-Earther.

If you aren’t in the Why Was I Ganked? channel, you are missing out on the best content in EvE Online. Ganking is both amusing and lucrative!
Humans were a mistake.
Also, imagine dealing with pro and anti vax in the past. ![]()

Earth is not flat, there are mountains, and valleys, and all kinds of hills and ditches!
I also consider myself a High resident.
Am I allowed to consider myself a highsec resident if my sec status is below -5?
If your game play is in HS, then yes. We do have gankers in the collective.
being apart of USIA we are most certainly hisec residents..
You’re a LowSec resident. ![]()
Does that mean I have to hang out with Youngpuke2 ?
Ain’t that the truth…
