All accounts are free after reselling the skill points back to the market with LSI after a 3 month investment. Unlimited Mulitboxing, War HQs, Peace Periods, CCP interference in player affairs by creating game mechanics designed with only one outcome in mind. Anti-PvP/anti-competition mechanics which would become a wall of text if i start listing them. None of you have any future other than a tax farm for a small group which is in total control now and the small handful of them only grows smaller.
(btw GMs…8 days later…answer my help ticket and maybe ill stop coming to the forum to flame?)
Never seen the point of the Capitalist desire to get a structure though, probably to makeup for a small weener. Whoever does though, deserves a good smack. BLACK FLAG doing them a favour really, by teaching them that they should have nothing and be happy.
I see this subject is still being kicked around, although the stats are still online, and the launcher clearly shows the number of players online.
Currently the number is 26,573 online. Last month is was about 1% less on average, but it was nice weather and now both adults and children alike are seeking indoor activities. I was looking at the old stats for 2020 and to my surprise, March, April, and May (peak of Covid 19), didn’t show much more of a 50% increase for this game.
With the Autumn/Halloween event coming up on Thursday, I suspect there will be a swift rise and fall. Those numbers will greatly depend on the success or failure of the event. Even with events and colder weather in the northern hemisphere, I don’t expect much more than the average increase.
This game’s population is pretty low at present, they might want to saturate the social media with ads, and sponsor some give-aways for returning veteran players. Hard to say, if they have the budget for doing anything at all in the near future.
Do you mean Highsec suicide-ganking? Are you really saying that fluctuations in the numbers are all because of Highsec suicide gankers?
Or are you making a more general point that PvP in other areas drives these figures? Either way, it doesn’t sound very likely. But you are only making the suggestion, so I’ll hold off.
Lol, miners again. It is always poor miners and gankers who target miners who are the problem.
Good morning sunshine! After the massive buffs to barges and exhumers followed by nerfs to suicide ganking year later there are very few gankers still targetting miners because it requires way too many pilots and it is not ISK profitable anymore (if it ever was which generally wasn’t even before). And they operate almost exclusively in caldari space.
And because of that the prices of mining vessels and modules went down - high offer, low demand.
It is time for gank haters to find a new beating horse… Maybe Leopards? That must be it!
Depends on whether Mr Whiner, gets his way, and they buff the leopard, so he can fly between gates without having to worry about smartbombs, because his leopard is expensive.
I was thinking in general. Highsec, lowsec, and nullsec. And not just miners, but all PvE activities. I play with a corporation some of the time, other times solo, but I’ve just started so I’m still trying to understand how this game works. I did look at the player counts over 5 or 10 years and they actually seem to be very stable in the long run around 30k or 31k average.
I don’t think I specifically called out PvP, but mentioned both PvE and PvP. Games like this need space (which in games is locations separated by travel time) so both types game play can exist. PvP doesn’t ever exist souly in a game. There is always PvE activity and mining is just one example. My corp also does manufacturing, hauling, and PvP too.
Players individually might chose to do almost only one or the other (PvP or PvE). They can do that in this game only because of the corporations. Some in the corp might perform the necessary PvP, others could specialize for instance and do only mining if they wanted to. Also the space (time) that separates players (and also in this game the police, CONCORD).
(The reply window for this forum is too small to make a large post and check that it makes sense).
I wanted to add that the PvP and PvE activities in conjunction with the amount of space that separates them are a balancing act. Some PvE activities can’t exist if there is too much PvP activity in its local space. Also PvP can’t exist by definition if there are no enemy players in local space. This is what I suspect keeps the game forever around 30k. Unless the available space is increased, it will likely stay with that many simultaneous players. No idea if the map size has been fairly constant or not over that time. If it hasn’t then that blows my theory out of the water
Ever since they were introduced to the galaxy by the evil miner , Harry Warden, they have multiplied like bunny rabbits, overruning asteroid belts throught the universe and spamming local in every empty system they pass through with wordsalad.
Thanks to a Frostpacker , Harry murdered 22 capsuleers with a pickaxe on Valentine’s Day.
The story goes that Harry was put into a coma after an accident caused by an inexperienced miner named Iceacid Frostpacker in his Orca, Iceacid didnt know how to fly the damned thing, he was just trying to impress AIko, The Saviorette of High Sec. Well, Harry woke up a year later and murdered these people.
You know you just quoted me out of context. I didn’t say anything needs to be adjusted. I just said if EVE ever wants to see the game have 200k players, they need to adjust some things in the game to make that happen. The player base seems to have chosen the around 30k number for how many simultaneous players based on some factors in the game that we can only guess at. That is what I was doing, guessing at what those might be.
You don’t seem to understand how Eve works. PvP players such as myself, and also gankers and others, don’t care if you are ‘doing PvE or doing PvP’. You get locked and shot at all the same. Nobody’s going to ask ’ Excuse me, my good sir, are you doing PvE in which case I won’t shoot you '. Nobody has the time or inclination for that. When I hunt suspects I really don’t care what they are doing…they are suspect and need shooting.
